Hi everyone,

After only having the piggies for a few days I've noticed that nearly all of them need their nails trimming but whats the best way to approach it? I don't mean HOW do you do it I mean how will I do it which will cause the piggies the least stress. They haven't got to know me yet (when I pick them up all apart from 2 squeal so much you'd think I was killing them!) and of those, 3 of them look physically terrified. Those 3 especially are needing both their front and back ones done, its started causing the toes to sit sideways. As you can imagine, I'd rather get the nails trimmed sooner rather than later before its starts causing real problems.

Could the nails perhaps wait for a week or so, to give them time to settle down with you.

Yes I suppose so its just I don't want it to end up in more serious consequences, I remember reading that broken toes can be caused by long nails as its not the nails that breaks its the toes. x

Hi Donna,

I trimmed all their nails just before you took them so they should all be ok. The three girls came in with very long nails so I have been trimming them back slowly as they are at a funny angle. So I wouldn't worry too much about them. The length they are at shouldn't be having any serious consequence on them at all.

xx
