My vet usually prescribes Cystophan, but after looking at Cystease, it looks like they're pretty much the same thing? My primary concern about Cystophan was the 'artificial chicken flavouring' - does anyone know if Cystease also has this? A couple of my piggies really dislike the taste of Cystophan and so I was hoping Cystease might be a bit better tasting! They won't even eat it when a tiny bit is sprinkled on basil or an equally strong tasting morsel! Thanks!

As far as I know, cystease doesn't have the flavouring. otherwise, they are pretty much the same. Cystease is the more often used.

I tend to give both meds in a syringe and not sprinkle on their food, that way you know they are getting the right dose. As far as I am aware Cystease does not have any additional flavouring. You would need to check that the mg of Glucosamine and Hylauronic acid is the same though and adjust accordingly.

Animal proteins, fed to a guinea pig?

Google search. = cystease
  • 125mg - N-Acetyl Glucosamine.
  • 37.5mg - L-Tryptophan.
  • 10mg - Hyaluronic Acid.

Cystease Glucosamine, also called chitosamine, is a natural substance that is found in the covering of shellfish.? Is that what you wanted to know?

You could also use vegan Glucosamine tablets but they are only Glucosamine and do not have any of the additional ingredients.
