Morning

I posted a while back about finding blood in Six and Athy's cage. We didn't see any again until yesterday so took them both to the vets this morning. The vet said Athy has cystitis and prescribed .5ml of Baytril once a day for ten days. Does this sound right? .5ml looks like an awful lot to give her in one go bless her!

Thanks xx

I am not overly familiar with Baytril dosing and don't have my formulary on me so hopefully someone else will answer that. It is normal for the vet to prescribe antibiotics though, but usually Septrin is more effective for a UTI. However, some vets will only try Septrin after Baytril.

Do you have probiotics to give too an hour after the Baytril?

Yes - we have some powder probiotic left over from the last time we had a guinea on baytril... It doesn't have an expiry date does it?! I'll check the label when I get home, it's probably about 3 months old.

I think it does, but would think 3 months is ok, check the label though.
