Cystophan Or Cystease?

I originally bought a bottle of Cystassist from Amazon as it stated it was the same as Cystease. I showed it to the vet and they were happy for me to use that. I used it for at least 18 months without issues.

It went out of stock for ages so we swapped to Cystease, which is way more expensive.

I've just checked Amazon and Cystassist it back in stock. It looks like it went through some rebranding, so that's why it went missing for a while

I can't remember the exact dose. I'll have a look on the bottle and see if I can remember what I dosed him at.

I just searched the forum and it was 1 capsule over 3 days. I mixed it with 3ml of water and gave him 1 ml per day.

I found that it mixed better with water than Cystease. That tends to absorb the water so you have to water more water each day.

Is one better than the other or better suited for Guinea Pigs, also, what are the dosages?

They are pretty much the same, just different brand names. You mix the contents of one capsule with 1 or 2 ml of water in a little medicine bottle and shake vigorously.

For the first week, you give a capsule a day (i.e. 1-2 ml of water, depending on how much you've mixed it with) and then you go down to half a capsule. If necessary up the cystease again during an acute episode.
