Treacle has a cyst on her bum :( She has a visit to the vet who popped in and scraped as much goo out as she could with her finger.
She has a hole in her bum now the size of a 10p.
She has some metacam (for cats!) and seems to like it and I had to wash the wound out for a few days with a syringe. It seems to be drying up nicely and she's seems happy enough for a piggy that has to be on her own for a bit.

Has anyone else had a piggy with a cyst? How did they get on? If it comes back again she'll need an op.. How do piggies do with ops? Doesn't sound good to me...

thanks for reading...

Hello, my Pippa had a cyst on her side and had pretty much the same treatment.

It was lanced so she had a small wound, probably a bit smaller than a 5p piece. We flushed it with a syringe for just over a week and she was on a course of anti-biotics too (baytril).

It healed very well in that time although I think in time it will probably re-fill.

Pippa's was the size of a small marble, so not huge. If it does re-fill, I probably won't do anything about it, as it caused/causes her no problems, unless it gets bigger or starts to trouble her of course :)

Hope Treacle is okay and heals well :)

A quick update,

Treacle seems to be doing fine with no signs of it refilling. She still has a huge scabby patch on her bottom and I suspect she'll be bald there forever.

She's still her happy squeaky self :)) though and has no problems running around the living room leaving deposits everywhere rolleyes.

Ps, the girls are back together too, they didn't like being on their own too much..:(

Cyst in groin

My 3 year old GP Chuffy has a wallnut sized lump in her left groin. I took her to Highcroft Vets in Whitchurch yesterday and the vet said he can operate to remove it. The earliest he can do the op in next Wednesday. The lump has grown quite quickly in the last two weeks and I'm a bit worried that another wait of one week is a long time in a GPs world. Chuffy has slept a lot today but ive had the heating on at home, she still has her appetite though and apart from sleeping seems to be acting normally. The vet we saw seemed to know a lot about GPs and I'm reluctant to let any old vet operate on her....should i just get her to any vet or watch her for symptoms between now and Wednesday?
