Nearly 19 years ago, a very special girl was born. Her name was Saffron and she was a little ball of fluff! She came into the world in a litter of 4 with her brothers Birty and Diesel and sister, Amber born to Mum Rosie.

Over the years one by one , saffron lost her mum and siblings and fought on bravely. Having operations on her thyroid and medication every day for her idiopathic cystitis. Around 12 months ago, she was diagnosed with a grade 3 heart murmur out of nowhere. A heart scan showed she had HCM alongside with her hyperthyroidism. She fought on bravely and a routine blood test 10 days ago showed my darling girl was in acute renal failure. 4 days on fluid therapy at the vets and medication sadly had no effect to her kidney levels. Alas my brave girl’s fight was over. She came home on Saturday and 24 hours later started to fade away in front of me.

At 4.45pm today, I let my brave girl go. She was my world and the last of a long line of pussy cats over the last 27 years. My heart is broken and will never be the same again.

So I say a massive thank you for allowing me to be your slave. Thank you for being the grumpiest, feistiest litter beggar. For all the laughs, scratches, hisses and tears (all mine). I will miss you forever......god bless mummy’s girl. Sleep tight xxxxx.......the end of an era.

But it sounds like you did an AMAZING job with her! 19 years is an incredible age for a guinea pig to live to ! Instead of being sad you should replace those feelings with happy ones : she had a long and happy life and loved you lots . Hope this helps

Thanks everyone
It's been a really difficult couple of weeks losing both of my special girls so close together and so quickly. I picked up her ashes today from the vets and it was really odd going to the vets without a kitty xx
