Hi. I'm very new to pigs and wanted to ask a bit of a silly question. On another thread it says what veg people feed them but ive noticed it will say 1 so and so each, but how can you be sure they are getting one of each? I hope that makes sence. For example they are given a carrot slice and tomato each, what if one eats both carrots and the other eats both tomatos? Do people feed one veg and wait for them to eat that then add the next? Sorry for such a dumb question.:red

Now that mine are in a larger hutch, I have a bowl especially for veg, fruit and treats.

I usually cut up carrots, apples etc. and let them choose which bits they prefer. If they all like the same thing, it is a case of who can get there first and eat it... or who can pick bits up and run the fastest! :)):))

Dinner for five!

I have 5 piggies in one large run. In the morning they get a carrot (one large one or 2 small ones) cut into chunks and in the evening they get 3 or 4 tomatoes cut into quarters or a similar quantity of celery, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, etc - whatever's on special offer basically! They also get a scoop of pellets per day and constant access to hay.

I always make sure there are more pieces/chunks of fresh food than there are piggies and put the whole lot in at once to avoid fighting over any bits. Chuzzle always grabs a bit and then takes it to her house to eat in private, the rest just munch away together. Occasionally one will steal from the other, but they don't seem to mind and just move on to another piece nearby.

I wouldn’t worry too much, if you chop it all up and place it in the bowls then they can help themselves. I like to hand feed, when I have time.

I have 2 pigs living together and I just make one portion into 4 i.e a cherry tomato. Then atleast they have a good chance of getting atleast one of the slices. If they don't they will another time.
