Wanting to write a simple list for my 7 year old who will be in charge of scabbers' and buckbeak's veg in the morning.

I've read through the list of what they can and can't eat but is it ok for them to generally have the same veg each day with a slight variation a couple of times a week?

Cabbage
Peppers
Broccoli
Sprouts
Spring onions

Are things we always have in our fridge so is it ok to give them this daily?

Then
Carrots
Tomatoes
Fruit
As occasional treats

Sorry my phone is playing silly sausage this morning!

Anything else I should consider adding to the daily list for the boys?

They have plenty of hay always of course and we brought some treat hay also I can't remember exactly what it is but its like a herby mix.

I had given them tomatoes and carrots a couple of days in a row before i realised they should be occasional

Hi

here's a guide on a balanced diet.

Recommendations For A Balanced General Guinea Pig Diet

Here's a list of foods they can/can't eat and how often.

What Can Guinea Pigs Eat? – The Guinea Pig Safe Food List

Cabbage can cause wind/bloat, broccoli is high in calcium and also may cause gas/bloating, Sprouts the same... I just looked them up... They are on the second link I posted.

Edit - Just re-read your post, my concentration isn't the best lol, sorry. Yeah I think it's ok to give them once or twice a week, but it does tell you on the list how many times a week anyway (the second link). I've no idea about spring onions though :hmm:

Maybe @Wiebke can answer that spring onion one lol.

If you want a simple balanced list of daily veg, please follow the one that we have listed under that heading; they in themselves can be served in that form and in the listed amounts (per piggy) daily in the long term.

Spring onions and any other bulb plants are not recommended as part of a regular diet.

Please make sure that you control veg, water, pellets and hay daily and that you weigh and health check the piggies once weekly, daily if something is not quite right. I know from growing up with guinea pigs that it can be quite a battle; it certainly was for my mum, especially with my brother!
