Hi all. I'm trying to work out what veg is OK to give my two young piggies everyday. I read romaine lettuce and spring greens but I've just read that this shouldn't be fed everyday! So confused! :mal:

Welcome to the forum! My guineapigs enjoy grass but they can't eat it all the time! Carrots and cucumber are great for them! Make sure you feed them mix from the shop everyday!

Also buttercups should never ever be given to them! They are poisonous!

Romaine lettuce and spring greens? My piggies have never had that. Make sure there's no iceberg lettuce either! That is also poisonous!

When they are in the runs thy won't need as much food because of delicious grass but you can still give them food, depends how long they are in the runs each day for.

Yeah Romaine Lettuce is ok for pigs but not very nutritious. Guineas love curly kale, and plus it is good for them too. Carrots are very popular for an occasional treat, as is celery. Books such as Collins family pet guides- guinea pigs, and the like can be ordered online or borrowed from a library. They have loads of info about food in. Hope this helps. :tu:

Oh right! Haha I forgot curly kale! Guineapig dream food :D

My boys have bell peppers (red or orange is their favourite!)
Spinach
Kale
Carrots
Baby sweetcorn
Apple
Corriander
Parsley
Beetroot (not cooked)
Mixed Lettuce Salad (no iceberg though!)
Little gem lettuce

Good to see you doing some research. Here is a thread worth having a read of Recommendations For A Balanced General Guinea Pig Diet

Important is unlimited hay in piggies diet.

We feed ours this roughly
Morning:
Cucumber
Celery
1/6th of Red/Green/Yellow Bell Pepper (de-seeded)

Evening:
Cucumber
Two Little Gem Lettuce leaves or 10 sprigs Coriander. Twice a week we will swap in cabbage or parsley

We also add in to the above diet carrot, sweet potato, celery leaves, green beans and a few other things occasionally

Avoid Iceberg as it can give piggies loose poo's and there is no nutritional content in it

Have a good look for the food section in the forum for lots of ideas on diets
.
