Hi,

I thought I would start a separate thread for the recovery food that Daisy has been given by the vet. I have quoted it, in her introduction thread, it is called Supreme Science Recovery.

This is what she was being fed whilst she had a few stays at the vets following her op. We, however, were never told this, and not being GP Savvy, didn't think to ask, just assumed they had to do what they had to do.

It was only when I asked for it, (following brill advice from here last week), that I was questioned if we had been given any of this feed or not. I said no, and the vet said oh, this is what we were feeding her on when she was in with us!?/

So, my query was, can I mix this feed with a bit of something else, just to give it something extra/different taste? Though, I don't want to rock the boat.

She really does seem to like this and the last 2 days has quite happily fed herself little mouthfuls from her bowl, in addition to me holding a teaspoon and her feeding from that.

I think I remember reading on my first thread that one kind member said I could add a bit of baby food to it........?

So, yesterday, I bought a jar of Cow & Gate mango surprise and a jar of Heinz Cauliflower Brocolli and cheese. (Not sure on the cheese though.....?)

I haven't used the Excel pellets since using this recovery food. Only additional food she has had, is her small selection of veg.

Any suggestions/advice for this would be appreciated. Thank you. :)

Many thanks in advance. XX

Sorry, neither mango and cheese are good for guinea pigs.

It would be better if you pureed some fresh veg like carrots, cucumber, broccoli etc. yourself and mixed that with the recovery, especially as the result will be quite fluid and can be used instead of water.

Parsley is another food that most guinea pigs seem to like; thankfully it is rich in vitamin C and trace elements.

Ahh, thanks Wiebke. I sort of knew about the cheese, but if there is a baby food that I could use, it would be a big help. My time is running short lately lol, I'm quite tired from getting up in the early hours (not done that for 15 years now see), ;) so it takes it out of you a bit, hee hee, but I'm determined to do all I can for Daisy.

I will puree some veg later, though my processor doesn't puree it properly, it's usually in a kind of tiny lumpy consistency, but I'm guessing that will be alright? Thank you. :)
