hi, just an update on my little abandoned piggie Daisy- have been away on hol for a week and half so left my son in charge. She's doing fine, at vet next Tues for check up but she's gaining weight and confidence and her fur is growing back. Have loads of pics which will post once I get to grips with my new computer- all singing, all dancing ( and I'm too old lmao)

I have 4 boars all under a year old, 3 get on fine together and poor George just hides, am thinking of having him neutured as a friend for Daisy- they have seen each other in side by side cages and seem quite interested-would this work?

awwwwwwwwwwww such great news :)
I'm sure somebody with knowledge re neuturing will help you out love.
Good luck with little Daisy xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

MOST boar/sow pairings are great but there are exceptions, tho' as yours are young i'll stick my neck out & say yes it would :)

Thanks Niki, think I will give it a try. By putting George's cage close to Daisy's he seems to be coming out a bit more and squeaking a LOT more, otherwise I shall have to find a female friend for Daisy :)

Why don't you put them together for a short moment when you think Daisy is not in season? If she isn't aggressive towards him, things should work out.

This is an irresponsible thing to suggest. How do you tell if a sow's in season? It doesn't take long for a piggy to get pregnant & what happens if she's not aggressive towards him? They can't be left together as she WILL come into season & then chances are become pregnant.

quite right as most know its only that 'once' where babies are made! the seperate cages until 5-6weeks after neutering has settled is a much better idea :)

If theres a way of telling that a sows in season I'd love to hear it mallethead

It only takes the once and then more little pigs will be on the way.....

Sometimes you can tell if a sow is in season by the rumbling BUT I would never try it as with most sows you will never know. It's not worth the risk. :)

Will keep George and Daisy apart till he's been done.Want to make sure she's fit and healthy 1st, thats my main priority. Have been watching them today, there's been some rumbling from George and some flirting from Daisy lol- she keeps climbing the cage bars to get a better look at him !
