I give up. I can't believe that I'm having to write this just a month after losing my precious Daisy.

Dalila is critically ill with a 1 in 5 chance of survival. She had gas compressing on both her stomach and large intestine and as a result she was going into shock and going cold.

She was absolutely fine and had been doing well up until today when she stopped eating and poor fecal output.

She's been put under anaesthetic and the gas has been decompressed, she's also been given various drugs. She's under vet care now but is critical and still may not pull through.

I just can't.

Ahhhh. It's caused a very ghastly atmosphere at home now.

I'm so done.

I am so very sorry for your continuing nightmare. What a nasty thing to come down with, and nothing you can prepare for or prevent!

You are a very caring mummy, and you have done all the right things, like taking her to a good vet promptly.

Fingers VERY firmly crossed for Dalila!

Oh I am so sorry - fingers firmly crossed for you - there just seems to be so much going on health wise with piggies at the moment x
 
I'm so sorry Jack. Really hope she improves. At least you got her to the vets and she is in the right place. You're a fab piggy parent. I know how tough it is having to take them to the vets and rely on the parents to help out...but it cant be helped.
Maybe you can get a Saturday job and offer to pay back your mum and dad when you can.

Just received an update from the vets - Dalila is doing well and has passed poo, wee and has been drinking overnight. She hasn't eaten quite yet but he said that its nothing to be overly concerned about just yet.

They are going to give us a ring tomorrow, hopefully she'll be eating again very soon.
 
I am so sorry Jack, you are a fantastic Dad to your piggies. You got her to your vets in time and they are excellent you know that, she is in the right place. Fingers crossed for her. Please keep us updated on her. Thinking of you and her.
 
This was Dalila just the day before, She was completely fine and was when I did the last checks at 3am.

It is scary how quickly things can turn.

It can be truly frightening how quickly piggies can go downhill; I have that see a few times with mine!

Sending vibes to Dalila and keeping my fingers very firmly crossed that she can pull through!

If it was an uneducated guinea pig owner they really would of saw no wrong. It was only down to the fact I checked her overnight output and only found around 10 poops that concerned me. Plus the fact she she was puffed up and sat uncomfortably in the hay. To anybody else they wouldn't of thought anything was wrong.

Prompt action really does increase the chances of recovery. I am just hoping my little girl has started eating, barely slept at all and jumped out of my skin when my mum came in to tell me the vet had phoned. Really hoping my girly can pull through.

You are a very good and observant owner. All you can do is give your beloved piggy a chance; the rest is sadly out of your hands. But it is a very anxious time, and I feel for you!
