I keep going back to this thread and willing her along, You really are doing a sterling job. Keep up the progress Dalila x

Jack you are doing a fab job! How is Dalila now? (also how is Lilly...i cant seem to find an update on her - but I am on my phone) x
Dalila is still doing well, has gained more overnight. Lily is also doing well, I posted on my thread of the rabbit forum regarding her. x

Hi everyone, an update to say that Dalila is producing very soft poop. It is quite smelly too. I found a load of it all around her cage when I cleaned her out tonight. She's been cleaned out now. She's still doing it however they're almost in the shape of a normal poo now. Except completely soft and squishy.

Her gut stimulant has now been stopped as advised by vet because she's now eating fine. I'm also not doing any syringe feeding tonight (it's not needed really). I'm hoping it's just a little blip as she seems fine otherwise.

She did seem to have quite a full tummy earlier so perhaps this is her clearing out?

I have pictures but don't think I can upload straight from my phone.

@jenniferanneharris @biscandmatt @Wiebke @furryfriends (TEAS) hope you lot don't mind me tagging you x

Aww. My Benji was floppy once and I rushed him to the vet overnight where he nearly died and had to be put in a breathing tent. He stayed there for about 3-4 days before he recovered but nobody has any idea what happened to him, though it may have been gut statis for some reason.

Hope Dalila keeps her strength up and makes a full recovery xx

I am by no means an expert, but is Dalila having any probiotic? My Widget piggy had very smelly, soft poops for a couple of weeks recently but I've been putting Avipro in her water to great success. Lots of fibre food may help too, like FibaFirst.

Hmmm with her history I would call John and see what he says? Is still still on a probiotic?
I say always best to get her checked...but it may be an imbalance in her gut from all the meds she has had. Castiel my bunny was like that when his gut stimulant was starting to work and he was producing poops. The first day his poops were soft and smelly but soon once he started eating for himself they improved.
But I'm sure someone with more knowledge can answer better. I always say if in doubt call and ask or get her checked over.
Is her gut still moving now?

X

Hi Jennifer,

Yes her gut is still moving, she's eating really well. Eats her pellets and hay on her own. Her poo is much better today, it's forming and she seems happy enough. I think you could be right about an imbalance or something. I've been sprinkling probiotic on her pellets. x

Please get her seen asap by a vet, as the symptoms you describe are very similar to bloat :(
Thanks for your concern, although this is not bloat. Not sure if you've read the whole thread through but she has had quite a few problems these past 11 days. She's doing well today.

That's good. Sounds like it is probs just her gut moving. If its still soft in a few days you may wanna increase the probiotic and syringe it in her mixed with water. Luckily it sounds like she is doing better each day.
You're doing a fab job :-)

Good that they are now forming :) Unfortunately bloat can present as soft poops & deteriorate very quickly, especially if she has been poorly & on antibiotics then she could be susceptible to it, but sounds like her guts had a blip for a bit; maybe keep her off veggies for a couple of days then :)

oh, i never got that tag notice... anyway i'm glad she's doing well again now x

Thats fab news. Yay for Dalila and well done to you Jack for all your hard work with nursing her. I know how gruelling and exhausting- both physically and mentally looking after a sick animal is. x x

awwww bless :luv: I'm so glad she's doing so well, I didnt post before as I didnt feel I had anything or advice to offer. But I have been keeping an eye on this thread.

Like the others have said- I too admire your dedication &commitment to your little furries. She has been a great little fighter (&a pretty one at that) but she also has been lucky to have an owner with the dogged determination to fight for her too.
You must be relieved to be finally getting the chance to catchup with your sleep?
Keep up the good work & you should be proud of yourself for your achievements

 well done both of you.
Xx

Aw thank you so much for such a lovely reply. It means a lot, I have some photos of her to upload later/tomorrow.

She's truly been remarkable the way she's rallied through. Her determination is what's kept me going. It's been a long 11 days but she's now recovered. It makes it all so worth it. Especially when people have doubts, on another forum I had people saying they didn't agree with the treatment she received. But who are they to comment on the situation.

I've not bothered updating on that forum. But Dalila's treatment was successful and she's recovered.

I've not really caught up on my sleep really, am constantly tired. However it's all for good cause!

:agr:

I hope you are OK too. You've been trough a lot recently (with Dalila's health AND the other forum).

How's Dalila today ?

That's great news; well done!

I too think that you have done a fantastic job. I admire greatly your total dedication to your piggies. I've been through syringe feeding around the clock, but have had to hand over to the vets after a couple of nights with next to no sleep, even though I hated doing so. I'm so glad that Dalila is much better, which is a testament to your excellent care and love for her.
