they make me so mad :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: some of you may remeber i put a post in for a friend whose piggy was losing weight and her vet said there was nothing wrong with him. well she took him to another vet today 2 hours away from her and here is her update!

I just wanted to update you. Today i called another vet who is a fair drive from me (i found them on google) i wanted to see if they have critical care or can get it as my vet fobbed me off when i asked. I talked to the lady on the phone and ended up asking if i could come in and see them, she fitted me in this afternoon and i was lucky to get there in time.

This vet was so much better than my regular vet ! This vet said my piggy has spurs on the sides of his mouth and it is infected which is stopping him from being able to chew.

The vet said it is the worst he has ever seen. I feel soooo angry because my regular vet should have picked this up but he was slack, if he had paid attention 2 weeks ago i could have had a better chance at helping him.

My piggy is starving to death and there is no other option but to operate, the vet said my syringe feeding was just keeping him alive. Tomorrow morning my piggy goes in to have the spurs cut out and the infection cleaned up, there is a huge chance he won't make it as he has to be put to sleep to have the surgery done.

The vet said i can bring his brother in so that he isn't as scared. His brother has lost 20 grams and has gone off his food because he is upset that his brother isn't eating. That sounds crazy but it's true, he doesn't want to eat when his brother isn't eating. If piggy passes away i know the other one will fret and eventually die.

Piggy also got a bayril antibiotic needle. All i can do from here is hope that he pulls through, i'm relieved that i found this other vet and sad because my vet could have cost my piggys life.

Anywhoo.. i will let you know how it all goes. This vet said he had guinea pigs as pets once and he likes them more than rabbits.. so i think because he likes them he will take better care of them.

so am praying and hoping all goes well for the little mite and for his brother too. so if you could send prayers and good vibes it would be much appreciated. thanks. hugs to you all. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Oh god :-\ why didnt the vet see the basic things that needs to be checked out :tickedoff: Its not hard to quickly check mouth, teeth, nose , eyes and ears :-\ why didnt he spot his poorly mouth

I really hope he pulls through the operation ok and recovers well - Fingers and paws crossed from me and all my piggies :-* 0:)

Good Luck :smitten: My prayers are with you and your piggies x x x x x x

I cant believe a vet didnt check that! They should have known so much better :tickedoff: Piggy prayers and healing wheeks coming from us over here, will be praying for the little piggy tonight :smitten: :smitten:

Oh wow, god thats terrible :tickedoff:

The vet should have picked it up, it's so worrying that someone you have to trust basically just isn't doing their job properly.

Really hope all goes well for the poor little piglet, my thoughts are with you :smitten: :smitten:

Awwww! Poor little piggie :'(

Something that basic should have been checked. Any time a piggie stops eating one of the first checks is the mouth and teeth! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

Oh God, that's so heartbreaking. How could they not check his mouth? The poor little piggie. I pray that he'll be ok.... :'( :'( :'( :'( Please wish your friend all the best and we hope to hear a good update. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

awww poor pig :smitten: my fingers are crossed, atleast hes in capable hands now :)

poor thing :'( will be praying for the little one, let us know how it goes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
