Dandelions?

Hi

I have had loads of dandelions crop up in my garden and wondered if they are safe to feed my piggies? Do you need to do anything to them or what bits can they eat/not eat?

Yes, they are fine to give as long as they haven't come from a part in your garden (or anywhere) where an animal would urinate etc on.

You can give them the whole thing - flower/stem - but make you sure you give them a rinse first just to get rid of anything that might be on them.
 
Mine especially love the leaves and think its a real treat when they get given a handfull.
 
I have loads in my garden, so I just grab a pair or scissors and snip them all from the ground. Then I just mix them in with the food or something, Tobii always leaves the flower, and Rocket is there quick as a flash to eat it all up!
 
I gave mine a handful of the dandelion with the leaves, stem, and flower and she didn't touch it....little oddball :)) :p
 
Dandelions are my guineas absolute favorite treat! (maybe apart from cucumber...)
 
mine love dandelions! every night when i come home i snip a few off and give them as a treat and they go mad for them!
 
Llewelyn is a dandelion lover, too! It's a good way of disposing of them...
 
please take into account that dandelions are a laxative(can give piggys the plops) and diuretic(stimulates the kidneys to work harder) but a small amount daily with hay and the likes is fine.

Mine love the dried ones from burns and also the dried mixes that have them it in! never tried ones that are alive though! Might try some out of my front garden if there is any not too sure as there are none in the back! (must have good grass). There are a plenty in my drive but wouldn't trust them as they may have toxins
 
All mine love dandelions, also groundsel, plantain, coltsfoot, comfrey the list goes on!, all of these grow in my garden especially for my piggies along with different types of herbs.:)p
 
Mine must be an odd one cause I took her out today and my yard has tons of dandelions and she sniffed them, passed over them and ate regular old grass! oh well :))
 
Yeah my piggies love dandelions. I give them the whole thing. I can't wash it though because my piggies are fussy when it's wet they don't touch it but our garden is free from sprays and stuff so its ok i guess
