decided today they needed some exercise. they didn't want to be caught but dodger was fine once i caught him and i gave him a little stroke. i just made it as quick and painless as possible for danny!

anyway-they seem to love it!

they are having a good old explore! had put in two hideouts, a wooden toy thing, and bowl of fruit.

danny-true to form as i'm finding, very quickly found the hideout and is in there a lot. dodger is more of an adventurer.

are guinea pigs like kids? do you have to love them equally or can you have a favourite?:(|)

dodger is my fave-he's so plucky!

AWW I love your stories of your new piggies. Dodger sounds like quite a character I have to say! Have you taken any photos of them yet?

I think it's easy to have favourites although mine varies all the time. I know my husband and daughter have their favourites too. The more courageous ones too funnily enough.

Wish I could put ours out in the run right now but it's rainy again in Wales GRRRR. that's 2 days on the trott they have had to stay indoors. They do have an indoor run but I think I need to fashion a much bigger area for them.

They can be so different in character, can't they?
It is natural that you will have a deeper bond with some of them; the feisty ones are always easier. especailly at first! But Danny will come around in time, and he will have something unique to him, for which you will come to love him for.

What lovely boys! Give Danny time, I'm sure he'll come out of his shell. He probably has hidden depths ;) He certainly has lovely markings!

Loki was the more nervous one out of my 2 but this last week he's been the brave one trying to climb out of the indoor run!

they are very cute and my girlies who are generally very brave, they have spent most of the time in the outdoor run pretending they are not there, today in the run they have beeen running round like loonies and even looking to escape when i open the door to give them veggie treats, the weather is just not nice enough for them to go out today but they seem so much happier indoors with me, but they are indoor piggies it is what they know

yes-i'm sure he'll come round-it's still very early days yet.

they are both beautiful to look at.

lovely dark eyes and little twitchy noses.

my children are going to be so excited to know they've been out in the run-my youngest has been counting down the hours until he could interact with them a bit more. i told them to leave them alone until wednesday!

aah poor children they will be so excited to get some piggy cuddles :)

oh WOW they're both just super gorg x)x)x)x)

ahhh yes you do seem to bond with one to start off with, and then funnily enough the other one shows up their character :)
Give it some time...........yes they're soooo like kids they have their own pigsonalities and so want attention but at diff times.....(ring a bell there? rolleyes)
Just enjoy and let them tell you what they want, i'm sure you'll be very good pupils :)
Gosh your kids sound like they can't wait......i'm sure they're going to be thrilled to hear they've been out :)

How cute! They are both gorgeous thanks for posting some pics.

Your kids sound like mine my eldest (7) is always so excited for handling time.

Lovely solid looking hutch and run there too.

you know i am actually really concerned about the hutch-i don't think they have enough living space.
there is a ramp that goes down from the body of the huch to the run and when it's open it''s smaller in there. so i have got that covered up completely to make it bigger and i have just placed them in the run via the door.

i am thinking of sticking it on ebay and buying a bigger hutch with a collapsible run i can place on the grass and move around.

then i could also put the hutch on the patio and i would be able to sweep up spilt woodshavings and hay more easily. already the grass is looking a right mess!

you live and you learn eh?

OK well a guinea pigs living space for 2 piggies is a minimum size of 4 ft by 2 ft, remembering that when the weather is damp they will not be able to use a run, so if you get a double hutch get one with a wooden bottom so they can use the bottom through the winter. Shavings are not good bedding for guinea pigs as they can lead to respiratory problems due to the naturally occuring oils in the wood, if you like shavings look you are much better using megazorb or carefresh.
