Sodapops
Adult Guinea Pig
It's with a heavy heart that I'm writing this - haven't stopped crying all day.
Last saturday we noticed a slight change in our little man and i knew something wasn't quite right. On Sunday he didn't come for his veggies and although was still pottering around and eating/drinking, something was niggling at me.
Our normal vets had no appointments and so i had to book him in elsewhere - we thought just for a routine checkup -maybe some AB. He was checked over given some gut stimulants/painkillers and told to monitor him over the next 24-48hrs.
Obviously there was no change - and even with 3 days of syringe feeding him, painkillers,AB and gut stimulant injections by our normal vets, he declined and was getting worse. He was taken away from me on Thursday morning for an x-ray and possible op. Later that afternoon we were told he had bloat and they wanted to keep him in overnight.
At 7am this morning i was given the news that despite him picking up - at 4am he declined rapidly and there was nothing they could do to save him. :0
So we have lost a very special piggie - he made us laugh and bought so much joy in to our lives in the so short 2yrs we had him. Rescued from Walsall RSPCA (formerly know as Wexford), we knew the moment we saw him, he was so very precious...
After failed bonding with my two girls he was given two girlfriends of his own which he took full advantage of for 5months
Such a gentle and loving boar we never gave up hope that he would have as many girls around him as we could and that is when we decided to try the bonding again. After 2wks of stress he took up residence with 5 wives and he loved every minute of it!
He loved the daily hoover time and popcorned like crazy at the hoover and would come running to the side of the cage when you called his name. He would rumble and sway his hips when you stroked him and he loved nothing more than curling up on us and going to sleep. His 'fake' kisses when he wanted more yum' yum's always had me laughing and he never once peed/pooped on us but would instead climb up underneath your chin and head/butt us to let us know he'd had enough.
There is another piggie star shining bright - a special boy that no other could ever come close to
RIP Dappy - we love you so much x)
When we first bought him home:
Enjoying the sun:
With his girls:
And one of his gorgeous piggie lips x)
