Junior Guinea Pig
So since the trio have moved into their new C and C, they've taken to weeing over the side of the fleece liner which means I'm having to lift up and wipe a couple of times a day.
2 days ago I washed the liner and as it takes a day to dry, put newspaper in the cage until I could put the liner back in. All day went by and only one wee in the main part of the cage, the rest in the tray, so I held off putting the liner back in to see if it was possible to try and train them.
Yesterday there were two little wee's outside the tray, and each time I quickly replaced the newspaper and disinfected to remove the smell, which meant no further wee's in that area.
Today there was one wee area, which I replaced the newspaper a couple of hours ago and since then there has been nothing in the cage area.
I'm deliberating on whether to leave it a few more days to try and cement the idea that the tray is main wee area, or whether to give them their liner back! When I took the liner out there were two main areas that had been wee'd on lots, as I think they wee where they have wee'd before! At the moment if they wee outside of the tray I can quickly replace the newspaper, whereas if the fleece goes back in I couldn't remove the smell of wee so they would go back to that area I guess.
If I leave the liner out for a few more days, do you lot think it is possible that my trio will have got used to wee'ing in the tray, or do you think they will go back to their old habits?
Sorry for the rambly post!
