Dark Nails!

Hi everyone!
It's been a while but a month ago I got a new boar and he's due for nail cutting but he's paws are completely black so it's really hard to tell where the blood vessel is. Is there any way I could see where the vessel ends? I've always cut my piggies nails myself but they've always had light paws so it was easy to cut safely, so I'm not sure how to go about this one as his paws are so dark.

Shine a light under the nail you should be able to see the quick that way. Best thing with dark nails is to trim a little and often.

I agree. I have a girl with all black nails and I just try and trim a tiny bit off at a time

Yes I do exactly the same as @sport_billy and @ayemee. Little and often is the way to go with black or dark nails

Thanks everyone! I managed to trim a tiny bit off each nail and just file them so they weren't sharp, I was too scared to try cut any more off. I'll just cut his nails more frequently now.
