I have a male guinea pig that’s i have had for less than a month and have brought to the vet twice. I am scared that if we bring him again my mom will decide to just leave him there. That is why I am turning to you instead of a vet. I realized a couple days ago that my pig had one dark nipple and one light nipple. He is a 2 month old male... not certain about the age. It does not seem to affect him but I am worried as I am new to the whole pig thing and have no clue what this could mean. He did get checked down there for ringworm but they did not look at his nipples. The dark one seems kind of folded into his fur so you can’t see it, where you can see the lighter one a bit better. He does not like being on his back so i can not hold him that way to check on him for too long. My dad thinks he is pregnant and we got a female instead of a male. I just wanna make sure we are ready for babies if that is the case... or ready for worse

It could just be different coloration on his skin (the skin underlying dark fur is dark and underlying light fur is light.) Actually, I think both of my guinea pigs have different colored nipples, just due to the patterning of their fur.

Hi! Please calm down!

A) You have definitely got a boy. Here is for double checking: https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/sexing-separating-baby-boars-and-rehoming-babies.109391/

B) Boars have nipples that look exactly the same as sow nipples. Have a read of this guide here to learn what is normal and what not: Guinea pig body quirks

C) The colour of the nipple is determined by the skin colour in that area; guinea pigs can have different coloured nipples depending on their markings.

D) Your vet didn't check the nipples because there is nothing exceptional or wrong with them. ;)

I hope that that helps you and your dad?

Thank you so much. He finally let me take a look and it seems fine and the brown spot on his genitals was poop. He just likes to make me go crazy worrying about him I guess

I must admit if I spend too much time reading health and illness threads I become paranoid about my own piggies. One of my girls has different coloured nipples due to her having different skin colour in that area.
