Dark wee

Has it always been this colour or has it just changed to this colour? Guinea pig urine is normally clear to yellow in colour. However, it could change colour through oxidisation or something that they have eaten.

Is it fresh wee or old wee? Cos it can change colour.

Also if they eat colourful veg or dark green veg I think, it can change.

When i change the hayloft i notice that the newspaper are brownish too from the wee, I'm sure this is normal as it dried and had time to change colour. I was worried when the pigs were out for floortime and the wee had change orange, i thought it was blood but then i read that it changes colour when its been standing for a while, also i tested it for blood and there wasnt any.

:)

There's always the chance that the ink on the newspaper runs. A few times I've spotted red/pink urine patches on the paper and it's actually from a patch of red ink that the pigs peed on. It can be a couple of layers down that the ink runs, too.

I would echo what ChiaraPatricia said about the kind of vegetables they've eaten making a difference. Just a thought: have they had much carrot lately? Too much carrot certainly does this to rabbits' urine, and I have known it to happen in guinea pigs too.

Also, too much carrot can be bad for little piggies' livers because of the high vitamin A content, so if they've been eating a lot it could be time for a break?

Sorry, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head!
