Dave not eating. Please help

Wow Debbie you do a fantastic thing for the little piggies. I think I will take ou up on your offer Debbie. He's brighter this morning but 50g lighter than yesterday.

I wouldnt fath about with vets that arnt competant with surgery, or x-rays with out GA (I went through 3 vets before finally finding one that would do x-ray without GA, and 3 vets before I found one that would prescribe Septrin)What I would do is I'd be at Simons veterinary Practise knowing I'd cut out the year of trying to find a good vet and knowing I had done my best whatever the outcome. I think the biggest worry is feeling useless and then the vet scratching their head cos they havnt got a clue.
I have found some good vets in my area now, and they are very good with the general stuff, however, I know that if any of my piggies needed surgery or similar I wont be twoing and froing from my vet I would travel to Northampton.

Hope Dave improves soon, Debbie is a star! I know Simon is wonderfully guinea savvy too, wish I lived nearer as I'd love to take my guineas to Simon for check ups and wish I'd of taken Monty who died in August to Simon as Monty became a dental guinea. I'm lucky my vets rabbit savvy for my elderly rabbit who has dental issues, vets not as confident with guineas as rabbits but is ok.

Dave has been munching his way through some salad leaves. I need to syringe feed him to start with and then he eats fine for himself. I had been a bit concerned that we didn't seem to be getting any poos, but he's just produced lots, and all of a good size too. Looking good so far.
 
Well he looks so good munching on his leaves, although a tad shy at the minute peeking out of his house :)

What did you say was wrong with him? :))
 
Oh sorry I'm a bit slow haha. Yes he's perked up so much compared to yesterday. He always runs away from me when I try pick him up and yesterday he didn't run. I knew something was up when he sat there an there was a full bowl of veg left. Fingers crossed for Davey
 
Well i've syringe fed Dave and he's eaten quite a lot of veg for himself. I've syringe fed Oscar, I've made up some softened food for Archie and now giving Cherry some syringe food and some veggies away from the rest of her cagemates. Just realised i've forgotten to feed someone though! Me!! :))
 
Just an update:

Dave is now back to his full greedy self. He is eating everything and practically screaming for food. He has maintained his 1200g weight since he came home from Debbie's.

All is well :-)

(I really thought he was going to die!)
 
Well done to you, Debbie and of course Dave. It is lovely to hear he is doing so well.
 
It is always great to hear a success story!

Having met Dave at Debbie's when bringing my own problem bunch over, Dave looked certainly well and very relaxed! It has been a pleasure seeing him pigson! :))

I remember little Yorkie's story so well and it was very sad when we lost him. You did everything you could for him. So glad that the outcome for Dave has been different.
