hi people iv noticed that david is sneezing more than normal again the past few days hes done it quite a few times tonight. i noticed his eye looked a bit glazed/watery before to.

iv had a bad cold the past 3 weeks and iv tried to stay away from them but hvae still been around them obviously feeding and cleaning them. i am hoping he doesnt catch that horrible breathing thing again or my cold. grrrrr

iv given him half a garlic capsule i havent got any vicks in is there anything else i could do to stop anything get any worse. ill give him some more garlic in the morning.

i thought about putting him on the piriton syrup again but I'm unsure what to do for the best. i know he might just be sneezing but hes doing it a bit more than normal which worries me. i think I'm a paranoid piggy mum x

Hi love i know many use the baby septrin in the UK
i'll have a search and see if i can find the doses, i left my book at home that has all that in it mallethead
Also maybe the hay has dust in it? just a thought.......

Bisolvon, small amount of powder by mouth,
Sudafed decongestant, 0.2ml by mouth,
Olbas Oil, let the pig sniff the fumes from the bottle.

OK i found this, hope it helps :)
all paws, claws and fingers crossed for little David xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

thanks glynnis. i have dust free hay and readigrass but i think that readigrass is quite dusty iv had the bag about 3 month to as its a massive bag.

ill see how he gets on and let you know. x

I think realistically the only thing you can actively do (other than seeing the vet again) is monitor him, Nic. If his sneezing increases or other symptoms develop then think along the lines of it being "more" than just allergies/sensitivities. For now, look at the environment again - see if putting the readigrass in a bowl makes any difference, or think about if you've opened a new bag of Dust Free Hay lately.

I think Laura put her finger on it well too!
Yup look around, maybe it is the hay? i find sometimes those bits in the bottom can make them sneeze, hey it makes me sneeze!
Good idea to monitor but if you think he's even the slightest worse don't hesitate go to the vets, hopefully David will be ok xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When in doubt I would say go to the vet and get antibiotics. Don't take the risk of a respitory infection. If you don't act now it could be too late, better to be safe than sorry. I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I went through with my gorgeous Gordon. He was showing no symptoms but your symptoms sound like a respitory infection so just a quick trip to the vets would be a good idea.

thanks laura you know what I'm like dont you hahaha.

ri will have a look at the environment i have opened a new bag of hay so you could be right i will monitor for the next few days. my vet is rubbish so i wont go there unless things went really bad. i cant see any snotty nose at the moment so ill keep my eye out and have a think if I'm doing anything different.

i have been using air freshner in the living room (the pigs arent in the living room they are in the room nex to the kitchn) but i sometimes things perhaps it could float into the pigs room I'm not sure. x
