Disaster! I opened the bed compartment and Chewbacca made a mad dash for it, hopping down and under the hutch. Hutch simply can’t be moved as it is wedged into the shed and after an hr we just can’t get her. Is it a case of close the shed door, put in some pigloos with treats and wait?

Am in bits.

Goes without saying that the under hutch bit will be blocked off.

Oh I feel you here, we had the same with Isobel a few years back now but our hutch is outside, we had to tag team it and slowly move a broom handle along so that she was forced out and I could get her. We blocked off underneath the hutch after that too. Luckily it's in a shed though so I would do what you said and give her some time to cool off before coaxing

Tried an hr with a broom handle and no joy so giving her some time to cool off.

Have a trail of grass, dandilion, dried pea things and apple.

I would leave the treats out, piggies will naturally want to go somewhere small. just be patient. I know I've had the same issue myself. The little tikes will eventually make their way out!

Oh my, that's got to be a scary situation for you. Not Chewbacca, who's found a nice place that feels cozy and safe. Hopefully she'll leave on his own when she gets hungry.

My son just got her. He used a piece of tongue and groove to corner her, watched for what she did and the escape routes she tried. Blocked those. Repeat until she is forced out from under the hutch and then grabbed her. My 12 yo is my hero! Hubby is adding wood to block it off tonight!

That's great to hear! Hopefully she is getting some extra veggies or fresh grass so that she'll learn that being captured by her food givers is actually pretty awesome. She was just acting on her instincts and didn't know she was being "bad".

She has lots of veg as a reward for being caught!

Boxed in!

They usually are fine after these ordeals.....it's the poor piggy slaves that lose a couple years off their lives! lol. Thank goodness for your son :-). Glad to hear little Chewy is out and fine.
