My girls have been with me a few days. They are settling in, will not run and hide anymore when I show up, and will let me pat their heads and backs. They love dark greens, Romaine and Kale especially and actually like a small cube of water melon apiece with the rind. They also got a seedless grape each, a slice of strawberry each and a slice of red bell pepper. I also put in a handful of timothy hay. Went in to peek in on them, fresh food bowl is pretty much close to empty and they have eaten half a bowl of fortified guinea pig pellets. These girls were eating a crappy diet ( I got them from Petco) They were Feeding Browns Tropical Carnival and my girls are sure being stubborn about switching over to a more plain but higher quality pellet without all the seed, dried fruit and dyes. Just decreasing old a bit each day, replacing with new. Same way I switched my poor elderly cagebound parrot when I adopted him over and taught him how fun it was to come out of that rotten cage and explore. May he rest in peace, had that boy for 22 years.

All sounds to be going well. I am introducing new veg to a new piggy of mine and she treats it very suspiciously! Water melon is always a favourite with mine, too. No evidence in the cage of any skin so they eat it all.

Please just be aware that certain veg such as kale have a high calcium content and can lead to bladder stones if fed regularly in high quantities.
