I posted yesterday about my two runts who I am trying to feed and build up their strength.

Today is day 5 and its looking ok so far, although I know they can die at any moment.

The one that inhaled the milk is looking good, no more funny noises, so I'm hoping he managed to clear his lungs. He has started to eat again. The one with the leg deformity is also looking good, although watching him walking with his poorly leg isnt nice, I'm sure it doesnt give him pain, but it looks really unpleasant. The foot has almost completely gone now, the leg seems to have formed inside his body. Ive been told this may be due to inbreeding further down the line. I just assumed he was squashed while growing inside his mum.

I took them to work with me today, fed every two hours, managed to stimulate some poo! (I was really pleased about that but I know it makes me sound weird!)

This evening they are back with mum, who is still letting them snuggle. I caught one of them nibbling a tiny piece of hay which I hope is a good sign, although have only seen this once. I also saw the one with the poorly leg trying to suckle mum, he has never tried before, I dont know if he succeeded but I'm feeling really positive about that. His other siblings are about 3 times bigger than him so he probably needs to get a bit stronger.

I have just tried to feed again and they did take some, but not very much. I am hoping this is because they are taking from mum now and not needing so much support and not that they have given up.

Have had lots of advice and support from Laura at the guinea pig helpline, really helpful lady, will be sending her photo's later.
