Hi everyone. One of our day old guinea pigs has escaped the cage and ran into bush land. It has been away from the cage/mum now for around five hours. I know they are herd animals and older pigs will return to the area. My fear is that because it so young and still dependent on mum, it won’t survive to return. What are my chances of having the baby pig return in your opinion?

I'm so sorry that this happened. I don't have any advice for you, but perhaps someone who has experienced something similar will see your post and be able to offer some advice. I hope your piggy is ok.

I hope it finds its way back to mum. You could try and put a box outside for it to hide in? Not sure it could eat grass or hay that young? So it might not go in the box. 🤞

What a relief! I bet you’re so chuffed pup is back! And mum too 😁 Please make sure that the cage is secure and they can’t squeeze out of small gaps or escape in any way.

So glad it's returned home, please check the cage so there is no more escapees and perhaps keep the cage in a secure area.
