De-oderising spray.

Smudgy is a really pungent pig and I mean he really smells. Mum is getting really annoyed about it and is saying I will have to get rid of him if I cant get him to stop smelling 8...
She even got angry with me when I bought a new fish mallethead

So today I bought some de-oderising spray made by boyofresh, the same people who make their shampoo and the smell lasts for about 3 weeks before Mojo smells of hay and woodshavings while Smudgy just smells of eau de boar about 4 times worse just after a week

Can this spray be used like deoderant when he starts to smell or can it damage the skin, remove essential oils, etc?

Is his grease gland blocked?

I have some instant shampoo spray by super pet that makes my boars smell gorgeous with one spray and a brush in and thats designed for small animals :-)

Originally got it for my hamster who as a baby decided to pee in his tubes and lay in it leaving him stinking !

The gland is fine, I gave it a clean when he had his bath a couple of weeks ago and is still ok. Mojos is more active than his and he doesn't smell :S

He is the only boar ive looked after, owned and smells really bad

It looks to me as if the Byofresh deodoriser is meant to be used as often as needed to control the smell, but why not contact the manufacturers and ask?

I would never use a spray around piggies with their delicate breathing system.

Check the grease gland on the bum and give your boy a wipe down if necessary.

I do but he still smells really bad, Not the usual light boar smell I am used to, its very strong more or less like a ferret smell.

I tried it today and the spray is like the mist you get from a squirty bottle when cleaning and mist in air does not last very long. I did spray it onto the bush instead of his butt and brushed it in.
It smells just like the shampoo drool

I will contact them to ask if it is safe to use as an when as I really dont want to use products on him but he really does smell >_<

Have you checked his willy to make sure there's nothing stuck up there like a piece of hay or boar glue? I'm not experienced with boars but I should imagine it could get smelly if there is something stuck up there. Be careful not to pull anything though in case it is actually part of him, they do have little spike things I think that are actually part of the boar bits! Hopefully someone with experience can advise you more. Personally I would never use any spray on a piggy they are very sensitive to things like air fresheners, deodorant etc which should never be used in the same room as pigs.
