yuch, found a really hard shrivelled up dead mouse in the hutch today, it must of been in the bag of hay from p@h which i topped up the guineas bed with yesterday. have now thrown the rest away, but had used 3/4 already.

You should have taken the hay and mouse back the shop, they would have given you anew bag, and if you pressured them, two new bags lol.

:P :o Thats horrible!

Once I thought there was a dead 'something' in a bag of P@H hay - pretty sure though it was a huge grass head of somekind - well I hope it was :-\ Scared me a bit though!

Urgh that makes me feel sick. :o
Thank goodness I don't buy P@H hay, though I suppose it could happen in any hay...

Yuck *worries about putting clean hay in tonight*

ewwww i've had a dead frog in one of my P@h bags of hay before it was disgusting

I would definatly have taken the hay and mouse back and made a complaint mainly from the disease side of things

That is very dangerous with all the disease going around, especially as mouse droppings are one of the main disease spreaders...

I would have definately complained! :o

eww, that is awful, I don't have any hay from P@H but I am dreading, topping up the hay now incase something nasty comes out with it.

I would have complained because that is just disgusting.

EeeeEEeeK I buy my hay from PetsAtHome - will be very careful and check it all... :-\

ewwww Nice, I think I would have taken it back tbh but then I am not totally surprised as the little blighters do get everywhere and trust p@h not to check their hay properly ::) !

just as a tip, we keep all our stuff in plastic containers.

You can get some good cheap ones from Wilkos and they are great for easiler storage and also checkign to see how much you have left.

Also keeps the hay and sawdust drier (obviously not in the same container 98)

We also have mini dustins with screw lids which have the hutch spray, hair brush and other stuff in to keep wee beasties off them...

worth a look if your worried about dead animals showing up lo

Ugh! I ordered 3 bags of hay online a while back and when I opened one there flew out hundreds of tiny flies which sat high up on my walss and ceilings until the zapper got them. I was horrified and I complained to the company and they sent me 6 bags in replacement! The other 2 bags from my first purchase were fine ;)

Yuck, you should definately complain, a replacement bag is the least you might get.

Sokel and PerfectPiggies are right, I would be concerned about contamination. When my two boys died suddenly with terribly runs the first thing Vedra asked me was where is their food kept. I would definately complain and buy elsewhere!

But more likely in P@H hay, ;D

I have sworn to have seen something like that in my P@H hay too, as I occasionally buy it there when I don't have time at weekends to go to our wholesalers place, as P@H is in town for me.

**Shudders** Ew...if that happened to me I would take it back to the shop and demand they give me a new bag fre of charge. It's things like this that make me angry. Although I guess it could have happened with any hay, they really should check for dead stuff. Uuurrgh how revolting! :P

I have to admit I have never seen it or heard of it before, but I will deffo keeep my eyes peeled from now on

I'm so glad i recently stopped buying bedding hay from pets at home recently, now get it from wilkinsons.

has anyone had any probs with their timothy hay?

I'm worried now as pets at home is the only place near me i can get timothy hay from. i can get it from the farm shop where i collect my megazorb, but i cant take the hour long trip just to get a bag of hay

Mice run in hay, its unavoidable these things happen. I use pure dried grass, its a bit more expensive but its really good for them and less chance of finding a mouse in it :)
