3 years ago I bought 2 gorgeous guineas (girls) recently I lost one (Matilda) I am now left with Maisy. She has always been the quiet one, matilda was more dominant and less timid she was very approachable and didn’t hide when we came near her.

I just want to know if Maisy will be fine, as we are not looking for another guinea pig due to private circumstances. Also Maisy is eating and has drank a little.

Hope someone can help.

(If I’m in the wrong place please can someone direct me) x

Hi and welcome!

I am very sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately at 3 years old, Maisy is only halfway through a healthy life span. That is a long time to spend without company for a group species that is not wired to be on their own. She doesn't need a friend tomorrow, but ideally she should have one within a month or so. Companionship can really make all the difference as I know from my own experiences with giving a home to several 'end of the line' pensioners over the years whose owners wanted to stay in touch and having adopted several bereaved piggies via rescues.

So sorry for your loss. Matilda will be missed. Like Weibke said, Maisy will be ready for a new companion and will need one before you are ready. As gps are very social animals. The most she could go without a companion is about a month.
