I was watching a pregnant guinea pig who just miscarried three babies tuesday morning. After that she seemed kind of sad and started getting a little crust in her eyes. This morning she seemed like she had an upper respiratory infection, so I made and apt. with a vet. I just got home from work and found that she passed away. Some blood was coming out of her. Could she have died from the miscarried birth or the infection I thought she had?

I'm so very very sorry for you :'( :'( :'( :'(
RIP little piggie and mini's :'( :'( :'(

I'm afraid i can not help you, i'm sure one of our lovely mods will come along and can advise you :-\

Maybe she miscarried because she was already ill and not was ill because she miscarried? ?

It could have had Toxaemia. It is common in piggies not long after they give birth.
Sorry to hear about your loss.

Thank you. I just feel so bad for her. I wish there was something I could have done.

Ahhhh bless :-\ You couldnt of helped it unfortunately its just somethign that happens sometimes sorry for the losses but she could of terminated her pregnancy early as she was ill :'( Was she expecting any day or was she early ? Do you know ? :(

I don't know when she was due. In my experience, she did not seem far enough along to have been full term. The miscarried babies also did not look as if they were full grown. I'm assuming it was some underlying cause, but I just wished I could have helped her more. I love helping animals, but it always sucks when something like this happens. I feel terrible.

sending a (((((((((( HUG ))))))))))
So sorry, try not to beat yourself up about it.
Not easy, but it sounds like there was nothing you could have done.

oh my word! Am sorry to hear of your piggy passing.

my thoughts are with you.

Am starting to worry myself about one of my girls. she is due any day, and doesnt seem happy at all. but she is so big!

Hope to god that i dont loose her, will check her into vets in a few days if i havent seen any signs of improvement over the weekend.

What signs did you have about your girlie not being well?
