Dental abscess help

Hi, i need help, i have 7 years old guinea pig who has 3 lower incisors but recently when i press the gum below them pus comes out she took zithromax 600/5ml with no improvement should i give her 900 mg/1200 ?
Ps : she has scurvy and vet stated that surgical procedure at her age is not an option

I’m sorry to hear she isn’t well.
Only a vet can tell you what dosage to give her (we can’t tell you as we aren’t qualified to), if there hasn’t been any improvement then you should take her back to the vet.

Yes as @Piggies&buns says you should always follow the vets recommendations regarding antibiotic dosage, and if things havent improved in 5 to 7 days best take her back to the vet to review things! Has she also been prescribed metacom/loxicom for pain relief?

She takes ibuprofen but she prescrscribed her ciprofloxacin but i searched internet and found not safe and unfortunately there is no exotic vets where i live so i asked for even an experience with a similar situation not for the dosage but for at least antibiatic names to discuss them with vet for dosage

it comes down entirely to the type of bacteria you are dealing with as not all antibiotics will be effective against every bacteria. Cultures can be taken to find the right antibiotic.
How long has she been on Zithromax?

How many days has she been taking Zithromax so far? Is it that she has already been taking it for a week, or that you have a weeks course to give her over the next week?

a week or 10 days i divided powder for herto so tgat the mixure doesnt stay for longer than 5 days

So you’ve given her the antibiotics for the past week to 10 days and there’s no improvement. In that case, you do need to go back to the vet and ask for further treatment.

She prescribed either zithromax 900mg/1200ml or ciprofloxacin
But i fear to give her either cause afterall vets where i live are not exotic vets and know less about guinea pigs thats why i asked for help ,someone with similar case

Zithromax is fine to give to her - I can’t comment on dosages though

I gave it to her full course but no improvement
The vet prescribed zithromax but this time 900 mg/1200 ml but i fear it could be strong for what concentration do vet prescribe ? 600mg/5ml or 900mg/200ml?

We aren’t vets and can’t advice on dosing. Please speak to the prescribing vet.
