Panda had her front teeth burred on Thursday and unfortunately they were taken too far down :(. I'm trying to maintain her weight with lots of treats and C.C and so far its working. She will happily take and eat a stalk of grass, or finely chopped/ in strips veg as long as it is 'threaded' into the mouth, she will also eat flat pieces of timothy hay and the fluffy bits on the end in this manner. I know that she needs to eat hay to keep her molars from over growing but will the eating of other 'solid' food have the same effect. Does anybody have any tips in getting a piggy to eat hay? Thanks.

Top her up with recovery food (that is mainly the much needed fibre) or mushed pellets until she can eat fully again in a few days' time.

Normally, front teeth should not need burring as they are self sharpening as long as the back teeth are OK and there is no misalignment or Problems with lost front teeth. Generally, tooth problems are caused by overgrowing molars/premolars. Any vet who clips front teeth without checking the critical back teeth has quite obviously no experience with guinea pig dentals and can do more harm than good.
