Dental Pig - Advice Needed

He has had his teeth done & an injection to rehydrate him and he now weighs 690g (which is a lot more than he did). That's all I know at the moment as I am catching up with Debbie this evening to be filled in on all the details. x

Just spoken to Debbie at @furryfriends Excellent Adventure Sanctuary. She said Sooty's incisors had overgrown. Also his molars were very bad too and were growing over his tongue and he had mouth ulceration, poor thing. Simon "did" his incisors & molars (with no anaesthetic) and wants to see Sooty again next week and regularly in the future. He also gave Sooty a fluid injection as he was dehydrated. Debbie says Sooty is looking better and is much more alert now although still very poorly. She is going to keep him with her for now, to get his weight up and until he gets more strength. Hopefully he will start drinking from his water bottle and eating hay in the near-ish future, although Simon says it might take a little while, while he builds up. Once he's eating by himself, he can come home! Thank you Debbie for all you are doing, and @Pebble for getting him there. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So glad to hear this update
I realise he's not out of the woods yet - but at least he's now through to the next stage! And his weight is going the right way!
Keep going Sooty....many thanks to Furry Friends and Simon
x

aww just seen this thread and thank goodness sooty is doing better ...Its scary how quickly they can go downhill ..I make this journey tomorrow @PiggySweep were getting the train down from edinburgh and will see simon on thursday and fingers crossed he can work wonders for gizmo too :) xx

@suzanne barton Hope all goes well with Gizmo - thinking lots of positive thoughts for him. I didn't realise having a Guinea Pig could be so stressful! Sooty is not out of the woods yet, but I know he's in the best place possible xx

I'm sure he will have Maria ...Its hard not having them around isnt it ..Were missing gizmo like mad but know hes in the best hands at the moment xx

I seem to have a lot of time on my hands, now that I'm not syringe feeding him. Feeling a bit guilty that Debbie is doing so much. Looking forward to him coming home, fingers crossed. Glad that Gizmo is putting on weight. He's a cutie xx

I dont have much time with my family and working from home but i certainly have more time not doing the feeding ..I felt one feed would blend into another ...By time i had finished 1 feed it was time to start another almost ..I'm just trying to play catch up with housework and paperwork for work ..Hopefully gizmo and sooty will be home with us before we know it xx

Both Gizmo and Sooty are doing well and gaining weight. Sooty is eating more proper food for himself and Gizmo is able to eat softened food off a plate really well. Sooty will see Simon again on Monday, and it will be good to hear how his teeth are doing. His eyes are still not looking too good so will see what Simon thinks is the best course of action. Gizmo will see Simon again at the end of next week. Kim was saying how she's happier when they are over 800g, and I think both of these little guys will be there very soon.

Aww thanks Debbie @furryfriends Excellent Adventure Sanctuary your a lovely person ! Hopefully gizmo will start eating proper food and hoping he will put the weight on but hes in the best hands so sure he will ...Good to hear sooty doing very well too and cant wait for more updates :) Hope your having a good weekend xx

Amazing news. :yahoo: Thank you again, Debbie (I can't say it enough). I have just seen him munching away on Facebook - that's more like the Sooty of old, I love his blue curtains!

That is fantastic news and another success story for TEAS and Debbie. Wonderful news.

Its lovely to hear a good outcome. These furry little animals really do inspire a great love in their slaves and thank goodness for places (and people) like TEAS.
