After Casper sadly passed away on Tuesday my remaining pig Kurt seems so depressed! When I got in from work last night he was just lying resting his head on his food dish. I had him sat on my knee for a good couple of hours and he seemed happy and fell asleep.
I’m hoping to get a new friend for him but am struggling to find a rescue with boars to put him with. Would a baby be an idea to stop him being lonely? I’d rather try and find him a boar before putting him through an anaesthetic for neutering.
Thanks.

When you say a baby? A young boar? That would more than likey work well. Have you spoke to Helen at The Potteries Rescue?

I am so sorry for the loss of your piggy also. Hugs x

I am very sorry for your loss!

Have you tried @Merrypigs Sanctuary and The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue (@VickiA )? I have linked them into this thread for you. Please be aware that rescues usually have more piggies than are on their website.

Please read this guide here to make sure whether Casper is just grieving or acutely pining (not eating and wasting away). In the second case, it is important to get him a companion from wherever asap. In the first case, you have time to do contact places and speak to them.

Thanks both, I’ve tried every rescue I can find in Staffordshire, and south Cheshire. I’ve read that thread, thank you. I think he’s more grieving as he is eating etc, and is happy when on my knee, but I work full-time so don’t want him feeling lonely on top of grieving!

Sadly all our boys are paired up - BUT we do have a lonely young boy in the store where I work! He's also very depressed :( Whereabouts are you?

Oh fabulous, thank you! Do you know how old he is? I’m getting a bit desperate now as Kurt is so miserable

How old is Kurt?
