I sadly lost one of my guinea pigs munchkin due to bloat.

I brought her body home and showed the two cage mates. One of the licked munchkins foot and nudged her then was wondering around as normal.

The other guinea pig seen the body and ran, she seemed pretty freaked out. Now she is eating and drinking as normal but is hiding in her body and only come out for food and water.

I'm worried she is depressed and missing munchkin. I thought she may have been fine and there are still two piggies together.

Any advice?

I am very sorry for your loss! Severe bloat is such a nasty thing to come down with.

Guinea pigs grieve in their own way and often withdrawn. Give her a few days. It is a good sign that she is still eating and drinking.

I spotted your post in the Rainbow Bridge thread. I am so sorry for your loss. Piggies are very sociable and sensitive creatures. Although there are still 2 piggies they are aware that they have lost a cagemate and they will be feeling her loss. The dynamic between them may also change. Although they are grieving it is good that they are both eating and drinking. Piggies are pragmatic so, given time, they should hopefully perk up again.
