The cage which I ordered on recommendation by the RSPCA has both front flaps missing - and I'm due a home visit any moment now...

A replacement cage will take 4-5 days, which means not before the Bank Holiday... Ouch!

And I was looking forward so very much to giving a loving new home to two skittish, but VERY beautiful little teddy girls! (Unwanted, because boisterous children got bored very quickly...)

I've just sent an email to my contact at Walsall (=Birmingham) RSPCA, because it's Coventry RSPCA doing the home check; saves an hour of driving...

The most important thing is the size of the cage which they can measure, anyway, and they can read the emails if necessary.

But it's so frustrating! We were hoping to be able to pick up the girls on Monday on our way back from Wales. And after four days with Mam-in-law I was looking forward to a real treat!

Perhaps worth asking on Freecycle, if you have it in your area, or freeads to see if any cheap hutches locally so you can put them in it temporarily until your bits arrive? Often you can pick one up for about a tenner, then keep it as a spare after?

i'm so disappointed for you,i know how much you wanted those little girls:(but at least you can still get them just a bit of a wait i know how you feel I'm up to two weeks of planning perfectly for my two new boars and i won't get them for at least another 2-3 weeks. But its worth it xx>>>

I've just got an email from zooplus saying that another cage is already on the way and - fingers crossed - should be there by Friday! OOFFF!

Somebody from Coventry RSPCA has been and measured the incomplete cage and tried to foist his lonely neutered boar on me - but I can only afford one tribe roaming free indoors and on the lawn; hence girls!

Dizzy was brilliant; she went straight up to him in the hope of some more grass, and he thought she was greeting him and was charmed...

At least all this botheration is doing wonders for my efforts of losing weight - 5kgs since the begiining of March!

arghhhhhhhhhhh what a hassle OMG i'm sorry to hear this.......mallethead
I hope they still let you have the little ones you deserve them and they deserve you x)x)x)
They need a forever home that is stable, loving and heaps of food and caring ways xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

This just shows the opportunistic way my mind works - will Zooplus let you keep the "damaged" cage? Probably not worth the expense of them taking it back. If they do, then you'll have a spare, and it should be easy enough to somehow make some flaps, and you'd end up with two!

That happened when I ordered an Argos run - it was very poor quality, and I didn't feel the piggies were safe in it, and when I complained, Argos refunded the money, and told me to keep the run - not that it was any use, but your cage would be ok if you could do some new flaps.

No, they are going to take one incomplete cage back!

Let's just hope I get a proper one - I would like to be able to pick up the girls on Monday on our way back from Wales to spare my OH an extra trip to the far side of Birmingham.

With a bit of luck, the new cage should come on Friday - they've dispatched this morning.

Thanks for the enquiry, anyway!

Well, I hope you get it Friday, then all your timings will be perfect. Please let us know.

They are both so pretty - and I love the names. How could anyone get bored with them.

I haven't the faintest... !

Lucy from the centre saw them on the freeads and could persuade the mother to sign them over - but that woman wouldn't even hand over their food bowls, leftover food, hut or anyhting to make the transition easier, never mind the no longer needed cage..

I want to rename them, however, as they are beginning a new life and am working on a shortlist of (pronounceable!) Welsh girl names to go with my Llewelyn who they will hopefully join eventually.

Keep your fingers crossed that everything pans out!

I have any indoor cage you can borrow but I live in Leicester, you are more then welcome to have it on lend

Thank you very much for your kind offer, but the worst that should happen is that I might have to wait for another week...

I still haven't heard from the lady from the RSPCA, and couldn't get her on the phone, so, for the time being, I don't know what's going to happen.
