Goliath
He's very vocal and doesn't really like being cuddled ... he's a ultimate explorer (he discovered a guniea pig sized house that magically turned up on floor time who put that there?!?) he hates being brushed or put on your lap .. however he will sit next to you as long as you stroke his chin and feed him bits of carrot ! He likes to run around like mad , burrow in his hay tray and grab celery sticks and bash his poor chilled out brother (shhh I know there different breeds but it will hurt his feelings as he thinks there blood brothers) over the head .

Titan
A totally gooey sweetheart , loves cuddle time complete the opposite to his brother .. he will clamber over your hand to be picked up then run up your neck and nuzzle you , he falls asleep during nap time and loves all fresh veg . He likes to wonder around floor time and finally settle in the snug tunnel before having a nap . He will come to the edge of the pen and wheek for food at any given opportunity ! Such different personalities but 100% loveable in their different ways !

Hadley: Likes to cuddle and watch TV (or at least make sure she is facing the TV at all times!) Laid back/snuggly. Mooches a lot.
Sundae: Cautious and more tightly wound. Constantly 'chatters' and gives kisses. Has the constitution of a horse and has surmounted a lot of health problems to be an old lady pig at 6.5 years. So... cautious but very tenacious? LOL!

And my past pigs:
Linney: Big baby with the humans, unquestioned queen and ruler of other pigs. Very smart with great problem-solving skills (sometimes too great for those of us trying to keep ahead of her!)
Frenzy: Extremely tightly wound (very aptly named!) Active and constantly alert. Liked women and children, fearful of men for some reason.

Chester: Laziest and chubbiest piggy ever! He is an Abyssinian male pig, he has a white body and a black face, and the cutest little floppy Dumbo ears! He always greets me every morning... well, begging for food hehe! He loves to sit on my lap and eat his veggies, and then fall asleep :luv: But his favourite thing to do is snuggle up in his big hay tray and snooze for AGES! Every morning (usually at 4-5 AM) he starts running laps around his cage. He is so messy, and takes pleasure in dragging his hay around his cage and pooping all over it! (YUCK! :vom:) He goes absolutely wild popcorning during floortime, I'd be surprised if his little paws ever touched the ground! Then he loves to find a nice cosy spot and fall asleep. His favourite thing in his cage is his fleece tunnel, which is getting old since its been washed so many times! Chester is definitely the tamest piggy I've ever had, unlike his cage mate Spyro who I'm still bonding with currently, but he has come a long way since we adopted him.

Spyro: I adopted him in June this year, and I've been bonding with him loads ever since, and he has definitely come a long way. He is very timid and hates to be picked up. I had to syringe-feed him medication from the first day I got him, he is a special pig bless him. He has had a problem with his spine from the day he was born and needs daily painkillers. But apart from that, he is one the sweetest piggies I've ever known and I usually find him snuggled up to Chester, who is huge in comparison to him.

I love my piggies so much and they are the most gorgeous lovable little things I've ever had

I'm still getting to know mine, but to friends who have asked I've said I have "a nervous white mop, and a loud pointy-nosed thing".

I'm so generous :P

What brilliant descriptions! Love it - and so true when you're still getting to know your pigs.

Love this thread. Will be adding my own monsters to it later!

Albus (Albie): Boss pig. Laid back, loves snuggles, always pancakes at cuddle times and squeaks constantly. Very tame pig.
Percival (Percy): Mostly laid back. A special pig, doesn't squeak. Loves a good snuggle. Knows he's cute and milks it.
Remus (Remy): Also known as Moppy because of his mass of hair. Squeals when picked up, but will tolerate a cuddle. Eats incredibly slowly, a bit of a grandpa pig.
Ollivander (Ollie): Thinks he's the boss pig. An absolute feral. Doesn't sit still, won't tolerate cuddles. Bites. Loves rearranging the furniture, especially tunnels and especially if Remy is in the tunnel. Also loves popcorning and pushing human's patience.

So glad I made this thread, I love getting to know everyone's hoglets! Piggies and their funny ways is so, so adorable. I love watching the boys potter round, interacting and being SAUSAGES.

Oh time to add my herd of furballs.
Spice, oldest of the group who is normally chilled out in a cuddle cup or the tunnel except when its that time of the month. She has the fuzziest fur and whiskers that make her so sweet. She's got a crest so think she's a merino/crested mix.
Cinnamon, Spice's daughter who looks nothing like mum. She's got a crest but long silky fur that has to be trimmed every couple of weeks. This she doesn't like, the bathing is fine but cutting.....nope. She's got the nickname p*** pot due to her habit of peeing on anyone within moments of being handled.
Nutmeg, the most noisiest when its tea time or otherwise quiet as the mouse she did look like when she came home with me. She a mix of Abby/ridgeback with black eyeliner on one eye and a brown and black mixed patch over her other eye. She's also got an extra toe on her back feet. Nutmeg only gives me nose kisses.
Saffron aka Big Boss. Not sure of her breed but she's got the cute monkey-like face where its ginger with a black streak and white all around. She's got lots of sass and is not afraid to show it . Will let my OH handle her and gives him licks and lets him give her throat strokes.

The latest addition to the piggy family is a 10 week old male called stripey he came home with me today by accident when I was getting hey for Choc
He's half satin but I don't know what the other half is because his black and tan stripes change colour in the light but he's a snooze court because his father has no visits on it so it means he has no Abyssinian him because chalk really doesn't like Abyssinian pigs
He loves cuddles he loves being stroked and he loves purring
He is a very sweet little boy and I'm looking forward to finding out more about him the longest days here
I will try and get a picture of the pair of them before stripey Grace up any more because it's like little and large at the moment it's hilarious
Stripey is tiny little scrap of a Hoblitt I can hold him in the palm of my hand I can't believe that Choc was like that once but he Wallace correction was

@Maddy Stripey sounds lovely. I hope the introductions with Choc go well, and I look forward very much to seeing photos of them both.

This is Mr Brunel. He's nearly 3 now and came to me from Windwhistle warren rescue. He's very handsome, has a noble baring, and is a true gentleman. He's not very cuddly, but does enjoy sitting on the sofa with his humans. He's a confident and relaxed chap who quickly adapts to his surroundings as long as he has his tribe/humans with him. After everything he's been through in his life he's remarkably trusting and seems to have an amazing level of confidence/trust in me.

He loves parsley and carrots when he can get his paws on them. He's very friendly as long as you're not trying to give him a bath! He enjoys lazing around in the most comfortable spots he can find - preferably claiming possession of a favoured hay tray for or run shelter. He's a very quiet pig, you'll get the occasional burble but her very rarely wheeks!

He's a very expressive pig, he'll let you know what he thinks of you and your actions. He spent the day of his neutering op giving the vet evil looks whilst waiting for his op. He's a very, very special chap!

He now thinks he's in charge of a herd of three girls..... however whilst he's got the youngsters under his paws my Lilith is a whole other challenge!

She's another one who came from Windwhistle; we're guessing that she's about 2 years old now. She's the oddest, friendliest, boldest little pig I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was kept on her own before being handed into the rescue and that shows in that she has no fear of anything and rather random piggie behaviour!

She's very, very friendly, extremely nosey and a bit of an explorer. She's always the first out to meet and greet whoever or whatever comes to visit her. She's another one who isn't cuddly - she's not really keen on being picked up and 'lap-time' isn't really something she's interested in. She's fairly vocal, and try cutting her nails and you'll think someone is out to murder her.

She's clever; she knows how to get extra titbits from her humans. She regularly comes and sits on my feet when I'm cleaning their new shed/hutch/run combo as she gets extra attention that way! She's also worked out that tipping the food box over whilst I'm doing the evening hay routine means that she gets first pick of the night time veggies; she's very disappointed if she can'f find any pepper during the process.

IMG_0366.webp

She'll do almost anything to get as some coriander! She's very good at begging.

IMG_0515.webp

She's a bit of a sweetie, and is definitely my Mum's favourite when they go down to my parents to stay if we go away. As she's so relaxed about anything and everything she's great for helping everyone else relax.

This brings me onto my two little girls. They came from the Blue Cross Burford at the beginning of September at 6 weeks old. They've settled in pretty well, even if they're still a bit flightly round us humans. I'm still getting to know them, and of course now they're around 4 to 5 months old I think the hormones are just about to hit as they're still establishing themselves and their personalities.

This is Wellington. She is currently at the bottom of the pecking order in the herd and sometimes appears to be a bit of a loaner at times. She's a climber - I keep finding her on top of tunnels and boxes. She often buddies up with Lilith whilst out in the run. She loves beetroot and beans. She's not fully learnt to trust me yet and won't take food from my hand through the bars.... but she so obviously wants to! She's often waiting for me when food arrives in the morning, but loses her nerve and backs off if one of my hands gets too close. She pretty vocal and screams and shouts if you pick her up; like she's calling for help as she's separated from her tribe. There's some work to be done there. She's a very sweet and a beautiful looking girl.

IMG_0828.webp

This is little Wenlock.
IMG_0875.webp
She's the smallest of the gang and also the most difficult to photograph!

Whilst she's the smallest she's feisty; I regularly catch her putting Wellington in her place. She'll come over and take parsley or dandelion leaves from me and is beginning to join Lilith in the evening food tub foraging exercise. She loves cucumber, and has also adopted the practice of pulling little gem lettuce leaves half way up the ramp tunnel to eat them so that they don't get stolen from her by the 'big pigs'. I've got a feeling that she's going to be trouble when she's fully grown - adorable, but trouble. Luckily I have Brunel to look after them all and balance the pair of youngsters out!

To the previous poster I thought I had pissed your name and your tribe of pics I'm beautiful but a handful nevertheless but beautiful
My older male Choc his Brindle and stripey is black and tan but I think you might be half satin apparently his stripes change colour in the light I don't know what the other half of them is though maybe someone can help me with that I managed to get a pic
If there are any swear words in here I'm really sorry this iPhones dictation has got a mind of it's own and puts the wrong words in it doesn't like Scottish accents at all its Scottishist

I can't use my keyboard on my iPhone screen at the moment because I've got really bad shakes brought on by stress so I apologise profusely if there are any swear words any fear and any of my posts this is because it has some kind of protection for wording built-in but sometimes it does get it wrong and it's a swearword and when I haven't even sworn so I'm sorry if it has I know it's a family run forum that's why I am apologising I should really complain to Apple about their dictation as it's not fit for purpose

This is my eldest piggy, Sunny Hughie Anthony... or just Sunny for short XD

13495140_10154234444565768_8360422864168069395_n.webp

He'll be one year old next month (piggy party!) and he's my best buddy. He's a tortoiseshell Abyssinian with a funky little mohawk and the biggest, floppiest ears I've ever seen on a guinea pig. To be honest, they're what made me fall in love with him.
He's a chilled little dude, except when he hears a bag of some delicious greens been rustled in the fridge, then the wheeks start! He's grown fond of cuddles in the past couple of months, probably because he's matured and no longer a 'teenager', and his favorite thing to do is lounge on a cushion on my lap and watch the TV.

13533338_10154245441200768_7394399128181155569_n.webp

Seriously! He loves watching TV, especially when my Fiancee is playing games on the PS4 or the football is on!

Lola-Jean is our new little lady. I was told she was five months old when I got her, but I estimate she's only turning 4 months now, judging by her size.

14908298_10154653423840768_8559036740023380386_n.webp

She's an Abby as well, with a sooty face and ginger body. She is insane, and it's fantastic! She spends 50% of her time following Sunny around, chattering in his ear (she beeps non-stop, all day, everyday), 30% of her time doing crazy zoomies around the cage, knocking everything over and flipping boxes all over the place, and the rest of the time is spent trying to cuddle Sunny :P
We have her just under two months now and she is the sweetest little boops. She's endlessly curious, with her little nose constantly in the air, and laptimes are a no-no because she hasn't got time to sit still, she has too much to see and do!

15284946_10154723047540768_5423887479041606921_n.webp

They make the best little 'big brother and little sister' duo, right down to Sunny protecting her from sudden noises (like a pen dropping...) or sitting on her head when she annoys him too much XD

IMG_2862.webp

Lily (ginger/agouti) - adventurous, assertive, loudest wheek, loves to try new food, cheeky food thief, gets hilarious zoomies which start as a head twitch then full gallop, good girl for nail trims, brushing and bum washes.

George (white with a brown face) - a gentle and cuddly middle aged boar who still loves to rumblestrut, loves his hay, unimpressed by new foods, bit of a fusspot about nail trims.

Stripey is like Jura cell batteries because he just keeps going
I wouldn't mind having some of what he's running on
You're still a little scrap of Hoblitt but that won't last long is the never stay small for very long
He absolutely adores playing in the play in closure only if chucks does there though
Chockster
He loves chocolate very much and chocolate and Choc loves him back it's so lovely

image.webpimage.webp Ok, just found this thread as I had a birthday 2 days ago and I'm only now getting sorted...and no bevvies were actually involved!

My leader is a small black eyed, chocolate Rex by the name of Smudge, as she has lighter brown marks in her fur. Brave, curious and always the first at the new anything (food, toys, etc) she likes cuddles, being stroked, and she loves licking her favourite hoomun during lap time. She often chatters away to herself during lap time, almost like a human muttering away to themselves. She likes being stroked in the cage, until she thinks that you are going to pick her up...

The submissive is a red eyed, tri coloured short haired Dalmatian by the name of Poppy. She is timid, shy and a right cuddle monster. Poppy will sprawl on a lap for hours, as long as she is warm. She will snuggle and cwtch anywhere if cold. She will lick on occasion, but she loves company, whether piggy or hoomun.

The baby of the group is little Snowy, short for Snowball. He is just over 3 months old and a red eyed, white Rex. His cage is next door to the girlies C&C cage. In two weeks he enjoys cuddles and has started licking his hoomin today. Currently bemused by the action of wipes used to reduce his stink (it's too cold for a bath) Snowy now has a more pleasurable fragrance, but it's not doing his macho image much good in front of his future wives.

The wipes were bought at P&H today as the OH kept complaining over the 'stinky Snowy' He will be neutered in 3 weeks time...just before Christmas Eve!

So another fact about the boys (no film reference intended:))) is that they think anything in their brother's mouth is delicious. I was feeding them pellets and Godfrey would take it, drop it, then see if Duncan's was better.
Yep mine do this too! Especially Remy, it seems he can't eat anything unless someone's nibbled it first!

Choc isn't too keen on stripey taking things out of his mouth either
The thing is we both get their own back on each other because they take food off each other so what's the problem with them are you pigs I don't get them sometimes I just laugh at them instead
Stripey has now learned that salad is for eating and not for playing Waze because he got hit on the head yesterday when he wanted to play with the food in the bowl and Choc wanted to eat it
So he's stopped throwing it about the cage and has decided to eating it is a much better idea I don't think he liked to been hit on the head
That was so funny

Also stripey has discovered the delights of knowing toilet roll

I have Fred and George. They are both over 6 years old and probably came from the same litter and have never lived apart. Fred is very cuddly and loving- if you're feeling down, nothing is better than a Fred cuddle! George is my one-eyed wonder boy- he likes to thoroughly lick up my nostril.
They are so laid back that when I asked them to look after Billy and teach him the ropes, they took him under their wings and now have a wonderful trio who live in the cupboard under the stairs.
Billy is a little white bundle of mischief who's naughty habit at the moment is eating my hair.

Rodney and Benji are chalk and cheese, but super confident Rodney, who loves XFactor and food of any type, including things he KNOWS he shouldn't eat, would be lost without shy little Benji and really loses his confidence when they aren't near each other. They will be 4 in January.

Trevor and his wives, Dotty and Milly are the noisiest pigs I know. Dotty has taken Milly as her apprentice and taught her everything she knows about begging for food and shouting loudly when it doesn't arrive in a timely manner. Trevor is utterly henpecked and he adores it- he'll do anything for his girls, including sitting back and letting them collect the veggies from me first before going for his own. Dotty definitely rules THAT roost!

Chester and his wives are a quieter group, ruled by little Mouse. Chester always looks a bit bemused, sitting in a corner and watching Harry (she came with the name and it stuck, but she's definitely a girl!) and Mouse run around.

Humphrey and Monty are non-stop, never quiet zoomie machines. They really didn't get on during their teenage months (as in stitches in Montys lip not getting on) but when I separated them they were always trying to get back to each other, and since reintroducing them they have got on perfectly. They will be three in March next year. Humphrey is a little aby- and he really is tiny- built like a bird, all bones and mouth, but the vet says there's nothing wrong with him, he's just a small guy. He makes up for it in personality! Monty is a lot bigger and more chilled out.

New boys Stanley and Arthur are just coming out of their shells. Stanley is the boss. He's learned already what time food is due and heaven forbid its late- he hops up on the tunnel, opens his tiny little mouth... And shrieks loud enough to awake the dead. Arthur is a little more nervous but he loves to sit next to you on the sofa, and is happy with being touched as long as you don't want him to sit on your lap.

At my parents house, Penny and Charlie stayed behind to keep recently bereaved Coco company (Coco is my sisters piggy). Charlie used to live with Chester but bullied him too much, so they were both given the snip and given some girls to look after and I've never seen them happier. Penny is a shy Dutch patterned aby. She's shy and nervy but very loving and they are the main reason that I go to visit my parents!

Quick question:

Is there some connection between piggy breeds and their ear shape/size? or is that just a unique trait that differs from pig to pig?

No health concerns, just curious :)-

Mr Darcy is such a confident chap. Loves to eat and strut his stuff during floor time. Loves spending time with me in bed and loves cuddles, his fave place is my neck. He was my first ever piggie. I want to find him a couple of spayed sows, has Mr Rochester doesn't like any piggie company :(20161125_115201.webp
