Dexter and Popcorn - the Album!

Dexy is much brighter and moving about more - it’s the painkillers doing their thing.
I’m not sure the antibiotics are helping his swollen foot as yet but we will see what the vet says on Thursday.

Sending healing vibes to Dexter
 
Today Dexter will be buried in a lovely pot. I’m still to decide what flowers to grow in his pot.

Popcorn is ok this morning. He came straight out for his breakfast as normal.
When I found out on Thursday that Dexter probably had something he wasn’t going to recover from, I had planned to move them both down to ground level beside Wilbur and Hugo so Pops had immediate side by side interaction when Dex passed but he went so soon that I didn’t get chance. I will move Pops down today.

I’ve been giving a bit of thought as to whether to attempt to bond Popcorn with either one of the younger boys. Popcorn may just want companionship in his old age and will probably be happy to not be the dominant anymore but Wilbur and Hugo are both quite the forces and I can’t imagine either one of them being a possibility.
I’ll give it more thought and see how things feel in a few weeks time.
 
Glad Popcorn is ok this morning, he’ll be fine with interaction with the youngsters. There’s no rush is there to bond Popcorn with either boys at the moment, you take care x
I love a pot, my Bill and Ted have a pot each. I plant seasonally which I like as it still feels I am looking after them in a small way
 
So, shed has been rearranged.

Hugo is being a proper annoying neighbour to everybody and has had to have extra walls of shame added to stop him trying to bite his neighbours. Hopefully the walls of shame will be temporary but he has been warned an antisocial behaviour order is pending.
Popcorn just wants to tend to his hay pile in peace and has the number of an estate agent on speed dial … although he’s concerned he would have to tell any prospective buyers about problematic neighbours!
 
So, Popcorn and I have completed our first week without Dexter. It’s been a sad week and I’ve gone to make too much veg a few times.
Dex was buried last Saturday morning and I ordered a plaque for him which should arrive tomorrow.

Popcorn was hiding a lot at first (more so than normal given he is the nervous type) but has changed in the last couple of days to the point that I have been able to stroke his head while he is eating. Now, I have had this boy for 6 years and he has never let me do that until now. I'm hoping he just feels more comfortable and it’s not because he is craving attention. I will monitor him. I don’t think a bonding with Hugo will work and I don’t think I will even try it. I’d be more inclined to try a bonding with Wilbur but I’m not even sure that stands much chance as even he can be a bit of a handful despite being less of one than Hugo!

On the plus side, Hugo and Wilbur have stopped being quite so annoying to Popcorn through the bars!

The end of an era for us but Popcorn and Dexter are reunited, they will be both thinking of you, so sorry x

So sorry to hear this, what an adorable piggy and how sad for you. Thinking of you I this sad time… and well done for giving your piggies such a great life where they were so clearly loved, safe and so well cared for.
 
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry @Piggies&buns. He died at home surrounded by love and that counts for a great deal. Go gently with yourself as you grieve his passing. Sleep tight little one xx
