As many of you know Velvet is diabetic.
For the first time (other than a reading when she had a UTI) she had a small trace reading last night and then this morning NIL TRACE x)
It has been a long long process but strict diet and trying to keep her weight reasonable and getting her to do a little bit of exercise has worked.
The diet i feel has been the winner!
Cauliflower, broccoli, peppers (capsicum), green beans, cucumber, snow peas, loads of fresh hay, oxbow hay, oxboy pellets (not the diabetic ones i can't get them in OZ) and bottled water. Also a little bit of cranberry literally 3-4 drops in 15ml of water once a week sometimes a little more.

WELL DONE VELVET i'm so so proud of you girlie XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Onyx has also been on this diet, she is however allowed a small amount of carrot everynow and then. Velvet gets most upset if she can smell carrot or corn on Onyx's breath.

So lets hope this continues this way!

That's great news :)):))

Would you have given that same veg every day?x

Well done Glynis...!!
Glad your hard graft has payed off... :))
Brilliant news....
Xxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry i did omit a few things..... i had this thread planned in my head and then well .... it fell apart with Tommy going 8...8...

They also get some cos/romaine lettuce and also some silverbeet/chard (for brekkie) and of course grass (aka greeeeen spaghetti)

Yes their diet is mainly the same thing each day, but i vary the quantities depending on the freshness of the vegetable.

This has worked for my baby Velvet :)

Great stuff, well done beautiful Velvet!

I am really pleased for Velvet honestly i am, but i really think photographic evidence would really help!

What a great mummy you are x

ahhhhh i'll try to remember to take a pigture of their food bowl......if you want one with them eating it's not gonna turn out too well.......you'll see four tootsies planted in bowl with noses snuffling around looking for the pepper.... :(|)

As promised their dinner tonight 28/2/12 (happy birfday uncle Grant)
so it's cauli, broccoli, red pepper, green round beans, snow peas, cucumber and a tiny sprinkle of probiotics tonight

This is a really clear pic of the bottle with the sample taken......now by the time i took this pigture it was at least 5 mins after sample taken.. !

I need to add that her readings for ages........ where in those horrendous dark colours, i was desperate and that's why i perservered and stayed positive :)

So to anyone who's going thru this.......it CAN be done........ i don't know what effect it has had on her long term :... but whee are hopeful for her x)
