As some are aware I work for a pet store. Working at a store I do t usually and come in to this guinea pig. Not only do they have something wrong on top of their head but they are certainly not 6 weeks old! The guinea they're with is bigger and looks 6 weeks. Here is a picture of the Tiny guineas head:

I am so ashamed of working here I need advice on what to do. How can I earn money/ get a job quickly so I can leave?
 
Aww, so tiny :( Looks like it may be ringworm or mites. Poor little thing. Could it be that s/he is the runt of a litter so smaller than the others? Definitely looks teeny though.

The job side is difficult. I'm looking at the moment and have been since May. Problem is all my work experience is animal related, but animal orientated jobs and scarce and not always well paid.
 
Aww poor piggy :( It does look like ringworm but he will need to see a vet.

My Ena was tiny when I had her and was much smaller than her brothers and sisters. She was the runt of the litter.

As for your job, don't feel bad about working there. At the end of the day, it's a job and it isn't easy to find work these days. The only thing you can do is keep your eyes peeled and send your current CV to anywhere and everywhere.
 
Did you wash your hands and change your clothes before you touched them?

When mine had ringworm I was told that it doesn't actually spread that quickly. You have to be in contact with it for quite a while. Even when Freya had it, it didn't spread to the other 2 she was living with. I wouldn't worry too much, just wash your hands well.
 
I've spoken to the manager of the store about it. She weighed the baby one and it's only 135g. Even if they are a runt I don't agree they should be sold, it's a she so she in my opinion should still be with her mum.

Gosh that's tiny! Should definitely still be with mum in my opinion. Even males shouldn't be separated until they're 250g if I remember correctly. Poor little thing :(
 
Not having a good time at work at the moment. I refused to sell a dwarf hamster exercise ball to a lady who had a Syrian and she had a go at me and said she wasn't gonna shop there anymore. I wasn't rude either! Grr
 
If the bald spot on the babies head is just bald and no apparent problem with the skin and no other bald spots on its body it is most likely just where the baby has been suckling from mum. The fur can get rubbed off!
Quite common to see this.
 
They really do not sound kind were you work. Well done for ensuring animals are cared for.
 
There's procedures which are meant to take place, e.g. health check all animals before taking them on, make sure they're the correct size etc but there's a lack of knowledge from people. And some people just don't bother with it. But not only is it the manager's fault but the person who gave them. If they cared for that guinea they would know it wasn't of correct size and health to move and be sold. I can only do so much for the animals as I'm not high in the ranks. I spend my wages on toys and treats for the animals because I feel its the thing to do.
The woman with the hamster really ticked me off. But I'd rather sell her the right product (which she eventually bought) than something which is going to impare an animal's welfare and be my responsibility.
 
You did the right thing regarding the hamster ball. Ridiculous woman! It's a shame that people don't research into the animals they're selling :(
