Diarrhea In Baby Guinea Pig... Help!

We recently got a new guinea pig, and he is being quarantined. I just noticed while giving him a bath that he has soft poops which come out involuntarily... They are brown with a slight tint of green. He seems healthy and gets greens and veggies every day. He just seems a little shy and stays in his hut most of the time. He gets quite a bit of hay for such a little guy. Help please! Do we need to take him back? There is a 14 day garauntee so hurry back!! :ple:

It may be that he has had some veg that he is not used to. Have you been feeding him watery veg like cucumber ?
 
I would suggest that you cut back on fresh veg, which is the most likely cause of his soft poos. Hay is the most important part of a pig's diet - it should make up about 80%. It may be that he's not used to having a lot of fresh veg. Keep a close eye on him and see a vet if you're worried. If he's under guarantee then you should be able to claim vet fees back.
 
I agree with @Elwickcavies: Please cut out any fresh food from his diet until at least 24-48 hours after the poos have firmed up again. Please see a vet asap if the poos don't firm up within a day or if the diarrhea is getting worse.

Diarrhea can easily happen in young guinea pigs that have never had fresh food (nor have their mums) and whose guts are simply not prepared for it. Please introduce any veg only slowly and carefully, one by one in small quantities to give the digestive system time to adapt to processing it

Does your new guinea pig have a companion or piggy neighbours or is he being kept as a single pig?
