Mr Digby has diarrhoea and has lost some weight. I will get him a vet appointment tomorrow but would appreciate some advice. He has been off veg for a couple of days because of soft poos.
 
Can you hand feed? Keeping your piggy hydrated is also very important. As soon as soft poos turn into diarrhea, a piggy needs to be seen as soon as you can; also if soft poos don't firm up again wiothin a day or two despite the piggy being off fresh food (which you have done). Fresh poo soup from other healthy piggies can help re-introducing bacteria into the digestive tract - nature's own probiotics!

He's been to the vet, he has to be taken off pellets and given only hay and veg cos his teeth need filing. Poor Caramel is going to sulk without her pellets! He's going to have them done this afternoon and then hopefully home in the morning
 
Just heard from the vet - he is recovering nicely, spurs fixed. They are going to give him pain relief and will do a faecal smear to check if he has a bacteria to blame for his loose poop. Hopefully he will be able come home tomorrow - I am so relieved :)
 
I'm glad he's feeling better. My piggy broke his front tooth on Sunday and has been having soft poops since. I however wouldn't be able to get to a vet till Friday, my rodentologist told me to syringe food and water, although he seems to be drinking on his own, I wonder if the teeth problem can affect the digestive system since it has on your piggy too... or lack of pellets because they're hard to eat? He sill eats fruit and veg but I will cut it down to barely anything to see if it helps him and continue syringing.

Aw, sorry to hear this :( It's soft/small poops that indicate a sluggish digestion so would attempt anything to keep his gut moving.
A small amount of alfalfa hay is good for a poorly piggy as it helps to stimulate appetite I find.
Mashed pellets will give him the nutrition needed and a good hay. I've just switched to these from Pet Supermarket as fed up of dusty, poor qualities I seem to buy and exhaustive various suppliers selling rubbish grrrr :

I've been having trouble lately getting decent hay, perhaps Diggers was a fussy boy (caramel noms all the time and never stops, in fact I think she even noms when she sleeps!). I have been to the dreaded P@H this evening to get some Timothy Hay and some herby forage to tempt him when he comes home tomorrow.

This year has been awful I think for hay, I blame the washout summer :(|)
Bloomin climate here is rubbish, we had a great batch then the last just wreaked of damp so threw it out. Swore I was going to go back into the shop and open every bag to test it before I bought...:x
Pet Supermarket so far has delivered great hay, makes the room smell lovely too :)) Fingers X'd it stays this good as I'm doubling up on orders over the winter rolleyes
Let us know how Jasper is tomorrow for his grand homecoming x>>
 
He hates being syringe fed, I noticed he was drinking from his bottle so I know he's getting liquid and he even begged for syringe pellets last night. I'm giving him Excel but he usually eats WAGG. He's producing a lot of this white stuff, I've put a red towel in the sleeping area to see if it'll show me what his poops are like, I've not seen anything out of the oridinary apart from this white stuff but I think thats like a cleaning thing they do, His bottom never looks dirty (it had a tiny bit in it when I noticed it was a bit sluggey).

What is it that causes it when it comes to food, pellets, veg or over watering? He's stopped dribbling now for the past 2 days so I'm happy his teeth aren't hurting anymore, he had some Daktarin just to prevent any infection that might start depending on how the teeth broke. Even though I filed the sharp bits I noticed Kenyas (his cage mate) has very sharp top teeth so perhaps they were suppose to have very sharp teeth but it's better until they grow back to normal lenght lol.

I'm not sure he's eating hay, I'm not sure how you force a pig to eat hay, it's not really something you can puree >.<

Does anyone know if a medicine has gone off, say 1 month, it's best not to use at all or is it still usable. Dioralyte which is a electrolyte powder for babies. x
 
He's not doing brilliantly I'm afraid. It seems he has a lax mandibula joint and that is making it painful to grind down hay and his teeth. He's staying in the vet for another night but the vet said the prognosis is not good.

I've emaild Debbie to see if she/simon have any ideas

Deb I think Simon is your best bet for teeth issues I'm sure Debbie and Simon will help give him a second opinion and the best chance.

Really hope Mr. Digby can recover - he couldn't be in better hands with Debbie and Simon.
I'm so sorry, I referred to Diggers as Jasper in my madness last night - this is what having a poorly piggy does to your mind mallethead (my girl is unwell too atm, such worrying times :()
