i bought my guinea pigs a few weeks ago now and they have both settled in nicely, they are both nearly 12 weeks old and are both females, however recently i noticed one of them has got diarrhoea, i picked her up and it was all soft and runny on my top then i started noticing it inside the cage, she really doesnt like being picked up either, she will try to scurry off where as my other piggie hasnt got diarrhoea and enjoys being picked up, the only possible thing i can think of is too many vegtables, i gave 2 lots a day but now cutting down to 1 lot, also neither of them seem to eat they hay and ive tried several different hays, please help thankyou x

Diarrhoea in any piggy is very serious, especially for one so young :( Please do not feed any veggies or fruit, give them plenty of hay & pellets & book a vet's appointment if the diarrhoea doesn't stop within 24 hours. Generally withhold all veggies for 3 days, but as they are young I would get them checked by a vet if they still have diarrhoea tomorrow.

I agree with the above. Dioralyte is also good for helping replace any lost electrolytes.

just checked her this morning and there is no runny poo or any mess on her:p poo is still abit soft but they are shaped into little pellets now so I'm assuming shes alot better! x

Please keep her off any any fresh food for at least another 24 hours and then re-introduce it only slowly one by one to make sure that her guts can cope.
