This was my first time cleaning Penny and Cocoa's grease gland. I was following the thread on here about cleaning grease glands and watched a few videos. However, when I did it it seemed more complicated than I thought. I have a few questions.
Did I need to wash the coconut oil off? I wiped excess but there was still some left on the area.
How long should I wipe the coconut oil on for?
If Penny or Cocoa were to reach the grease gland for some reason, will the coconut oil harm them if ingested?

Well done for tackling the grease glands. I wash off the oil with guinea safe shampoo - gorgeous guineas or similar and then blow dry them v carefully on a cool setting (I keep my hand between the hairdryer and the piggy to make sure that it isn't too hot.) Some slight greasiness may persist but it will be like slightly greasy human hair and will sort itself out over time. If you shampoo the piggies there will not be any oil to ingest

I'm guessing they're both female? It's rare for females to have an overactive grease gland. With my boars I rub the coconut oil in and leave for about 10 minutes before shampooing off.If a little is left I think it's ok, it's hard to get it all off :)

It's been a couple days since I cleaned their grease glands. Their bums still look a little greasy from the coconut oil. Is this okay? I don't have guinea pig shampoo. Should I just leave it or try to wash it off with water?
