I know that the most obvious places to get piggies from are Rescues, Pet Stores or yours have babies.

I got my second pair, Minky & Mousey from the Maize Maze at Easingwold near York. These mazes are getting very popular during the summer holidays. This particular Maze has an animal section as well as all the rides & of course, the maze.

They have goats, rabbits, guinea pigs & other animals I can't think of present. Anyway we too the grandchildren there in August 2011 & as we'd just started keeping piggies we were very interested in their's. We asked what happened to them for the rest of the year & they said they get new one's every year then sell them in pairs when the holidays ended. We'd fallen in love with this pair so left the deposit & picked them up on the Monday that the kids went back to school. These are now part of our family & couldn't imagine life without them.

Has anyone else got their piggies from an unusual place?

My very first 2 were from a pet shop and so they were misexed and i ended up with 5 for the price of 2, I have had another from Pets at home and my latest from an ad at my sister in laws work place, it was constantly re-listed and i couldn't have her keep telling me about it every week, so i had to have her, the porr girl didn't even have a name at the age of 4 months :(

Rescue all the way from here though!

I had Kenny from a lady who took him in after his owner died. I got Rosie and Charlie from a free to collector ad, I only meant to take Charlie but they were both sitting in a bird cage outside filled with water. no food, bedding or anything and I felt so sorry for them. My girls came from a family friend.

I haven't got an piggies from a weird place but we did get one of our chickens from an odd place about eight months ago. Whilst driving to work with the mum in law (this is through a housing estate) there was a home made sign reading 'chickens to free homes'. We both looked at each other quizzically....it was a little odd. So whilst i went to work my MIL went back to the house....they only had one chicken left and were keeping them in the front living room!

They'd bought a few off a friend thinking they'd make good pets, but then realised that you can't housetrain them....haha! Anyways we've managed to successfully introduce Poppy to our girls and shes enjoying life in the coop! I have no idea what happened to the rest of the chickens though :S

My last two piggies came from a garden centre that had a pets corner they decided to shut it down as kids were getting in the pens and i saw a sign and brought home a pair of boys i had them for 8 years :)

not unusual - I got mine from a friend of someone I met at evening class. I had been hankering after GPs for ages after not having them for years. Then a sudden "I don't suppose anyone wants a couple of guinea pigs?" conversation happened :)) I thought it couldn't do any harm to go and see them - ha ha - hooked!
