Hey everybody!

I was actually still working on revising and finalising my diet plan for the boys, but uh... now it's been bumped up quite a bit. I've been working on trying to finalise it for a bit, because I need to know what I'm buying in the morning. I will unfortunately not be able to return home to Lincoln to get my boy's carrier and other apparel until nearly 2 am, and I feel bad for my poor S.O. who is going to have to deal with the brunt of the driving the next few days because I'm sick :(

So, to begin- Hay

The boys have orchard hay in a hay box that is 36x72 cm. There are also timothy cubes, just a few scattered in this hay box, and a single sprinkle of forage. They also have a hay bag with Oat Hay in it, as the Oat Hay is far too rough to be put in the box. The orchard hay is their primary hay, they probably have quadruple the amount of the oat hay, but we'll see what they decide to go for. I'm hoping the timothy hay cubes will entice them to eat the orchard, as timothy is what they were raised on. For treats/chews, they have a large variety of hay twists/sticks, apple sticks, seagrass twists, balls, etc. No actual wooden blocks, but if I find they need that, I can go grab one pretty easily. I've got the cardboard boxes all my stuff in I can use as well.

As for vegetables- I was going to buy bell peppers(red and green), a cucumber, a bunch of cilantro, some green beans, and one spring greens salad mix for their daily needs. I won't know until tomorrow what range of vegetables they have and haven't been eating, if I get to know that at all. All I know is that they're eating lettuce mixes at least. I need to have a conversation with the woman who has been caring for them day to day to find that out. Right now, I've been communicating mostly through the rescue coordinator and not the lady who is fostering them directly. Offering a selection of these daily, is this a good diet(if a bit boring)? I was making a chart of what to feed each day, but uh... Yeah, I'm a bit out of time, and a bit low on information.

I know about introducing new veggies slowly, cleaning them, etc. I've got a kitchen scale to make sure that I'm getting weights correct for each of my boys, for veggies and pellets.

As a side question, my boys are 7 weeks old- should I be weighing them daily? Or is weekly enough at that age?

Thanks in advance for any help! I know it's pretty late over in the UK right now. I've got about 12 hours to get everything ready and get on the road to get them, so anyone who responds I really, really appreciate!🤗

Boosting this because I'm on the road to my boys now! Excited but nervous! T-Minus about 2.5 hours.

You’re ok to weigh weekly and do a health check. Remember heft is a better indicator of good body condition, and that they could be different.

As for pellets, a tablespoon per pig is enough. You don’t really have to weigh that. And you can eyeball the veg amount. The feeding guide shows a good portion. You can always swap out some things for another. I’d ask what they’ve been fed at the rescue then you know what you can feed and what may need introducing to them.

As an example, I don’t tend to veer much from my piggies’ ‘set diet’. They’ll always have a leaf of lettuce or a handful of salad mix. Then coriander - sometimes a small bunch or 1-2 sprigs each. Celery, pepper and cucumber and green beans. I’ll occasionally give them a bit of carrot or apple, though that’s not very often either. They rarely get spinach, kale or anything else. Mainly because I rarely buy them fresh.

Find what works for you.
