difference between Fungel and mites?

Go to the gorgeous guineas website, on there she has a table detailing the differences between mites and fungal. She explains it better than I could! I have had guineas with fungal ears which I use manuka lotion for. The ears look like they have a fine dusting of powder on them.
Mites most commonly starts on the lower back, the guinea will scratch and bite the area causing hair loss and open wounds if not treated quickly.

She also has some great products available for fungal infections. If unsure, she is excellent as advising which is best for the particular problem. There are chemical based treatments for fungal on the market also which involve dipping the guinea into them.

A basic guide is that with fungal infections, the hair is pulled out easily with little resistance, and often holds flakes of skin on the bottom of the hair shafts. To my knowledge, lacerations from scratching are less common in fungal cases.

From a chemist, Nizoral can be used. I have heard that Alphosyl can be used but have no personal experience, so can't advise on how good they are. Generally, you'd aim to bathe the piggies in the antifungal shampoo once a week for 2 or 3 weeks.

Alphosyl works well, it is not so "harsh" as Nizoral. It is a good to use a conditioner after Nizoral.
