I've not been on here for a long time, but I'm reaching out to my guinea pig friends in my hour of need. I am taking the difficult decision to re-home my two girls. My husband left me 5 months ago and I am just not coping with them on my own. I can't afford the vet bills and my mental health has declined to the point I just can't cope with the daily upkeep.
I need help with the process of finding them a new home, I have no idea where to start.
Luna is 5 and a half and is on Frusol everyday for fluid retention. Lavender is 2 and is prone to respitory problems (she's at the vets again tomorrow for a nebuliser which if what has pushed me over the edge). They are use to being indoor pigs on fleece bedding. I have plenty of fleece bedding which can go with them.
This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, buut I know deep down it's for the best for them and my own mental health.

So sorry to hear that you need to rehome your piggies. It must be a very difficult decision to make. All I can suggest is that you contact a local rescue to see if they can take them. A lot of rescues have resident piggies that can't be rehomed due to I'll health.

Hope you find somewhere suitable for them. x

I’m so sorry you have had such an awful time this year, sending big hugs x
I agree with everyone above, find a good rescue that can take them long term
Good luck and wishing you a bright future x

So very, very sorry to hear that things are so tough for you.
I can only echo what others have said about getting the girls to a rescue.

So sorry about the breakdown of your marriage.
It will feel like a bereavement so be gentle with yourself and grieve for what has been lost.
Use the forum for support for yourself - we’re here for each other as well as the piggies.

I am so sorry that you have had to make this difficult decision but it is great you have found them a forever home with a forum member. Take good care of yourself and I hope things get better for you soon xx

Such a hard decision for you to make but you must take care of yourself. I’m glad you have found them a loving home with a forum member. Take care. ❤️

Aw, super news, it will be a big weight off your mind, but I know you’ll miss them
