hi i have just noticed that my guinea pig's bum is quite wet and everything. now i read somewhere that it cant be so i was a bit worried if flies were going to lay eggs etc ect. he doesn't seem to be over weight and he is a short haired so i didn't think you had t bathe them so is it normal or is there something wrong. ps. not got diarhea malletheadmallethead

How is he in general health? If no other signs of anything wrong it could just be he was too lazy to move when he had done his business and so has a wet bottom. I was my piggies every 4-6 weeks and keep their bottom areas trimmed.
 
Please make sure that you check that your piggy hasn't got a urinary tract infection - the smelly and/or bloody pees. In this case he needs to be seen by a vet.

If is simply a case of lying in his own wee, I would cut his bum hair as short as possible if he is a longhaired guinea pig. Perhaps you can place a piece of cheap fleece in his preferred resting place. The fleece needs to be washed without softener for two or three times before you can use it, otherwise it won't wick away any fluids and leave the surface nice and dry.
 
hi thanks to all the replys they really helped. i have took them on board and i will certaily be trimming a bit of the hair. although he is short haired the bum has a strip of hair over the top which won't help. once again many thanks.
